[Necromancer] Gygax's Necropolis Back from the Printer

I actually have a copy right here in my hands as I type this. I have to say that we are really proud of this baby. It is beautiful. If it isnt the talk of GenCon for d20 I will be shocked. It is that good. If you are going to the show, stop by and check it out. I really think it will set a standard. I am blown away looking at it. The cover. The layout. The interior art. The maps. The interior design. The content. Everything. I know when I say it, it seems like shameless promotion. But I am serious. I cant wait to hear what everyone else thinks when they see it.

I'm going to have to wait till September for Necropolis. I got Occult Lore and Nyambeat Comicon, and along with the other things I got that's tapped me out for this month.

Did pick up a ton of dice for 20 bucks.:)

My advice? Get both Necropolis and Nyambe. Start a Nyambe campaign and aim all the adventuring towards a Necropolis climax. Everything (well, most things) the adventurers do leads them to a mysterious (and cursed) ancient tomb inhabited by an ancient evil. Over the course of their careers they learn that that evil is awakening, and threatens to arise to devour the Earth. When they succeed, the evil is held in abeyance. When they fail, the evil comes closer to arising again. Until, at last, the party is ready to beard the lion in its den, and drive the jackal to the outer darkness (mixed metaphor number 659, collect the series).

(A Nyambe based version of Dragonlance with Necropolis as the capstone. And alignment tests keep pegging me a Lawful Good.:D)

Thats a very good idea mythusmage. But i am concerned about the prestige classes and stuff from necro. Also the gods bla bla. I want it to basically have a region revolve around the desert and necro. Is it possible to fit the nyambe stuff easliy into the area?

And just another question. I was really really wating for necropolis. Why o why does it cost $24.95 to ship to canada????Thats almost doubling the price of the book. Not to mention exchange rate! I have shipped many things to the states and never paid shipping costs like that.(MTG cards come to mind)

I haven't read through Nyambe yet, but I can say that it is a fantasy Africa. Khemit (the setting for Necropolis is a fantasy Egypt, which is in Africa. So, yes, I would say that Necropolis would make a good Nyambe adventure.

Through Atlas Games. At GenCon (if you happen to be going), or your favorite local game store. It's 38 US dollars, so it'll be higher in Canadian currency. All in all, well worth it.

For extra fun, add a copy of Atlas Game's Occult Lore. Loads of good stuff.

Got It

Turns out it was there the whole time. Fortunately I got the last copy today. From a first look, it looks good. Has goodies not found in 1st edition Necropolis, and pretty much all of the stuff fans of the original will remember.

But, Necromancer Games did use the country map used in the original, only with "Ægypt" replaced by "Khemit". This, I think, is something of a hint. Unless I'm wrong (again), Necromancer Games has a d20 version of The Epic of Ærth planned. (If that's the case, I need to start serious work on converting the old Mythus spells.)

It's a good bit of work, and the chaps at NG are to be commended.

Get a copy and one for a good friend.
