Necropolis suggested levels?

1st edition must really have sucked if that is what it "felt" like.

Naw, 1st edition was 32pp scenarios, essentially site-based, largely plot-free, mostly just maps, sparsely detailed keyed encounters, random encounter tables and maybe a BBEG at the end of the dungeon. Maybe a cursory similarity to Necropolis, but far more playable AIR - I hope so, I'm actually about to run a converted 1e scenario that has 112 detailed areas in 32pp! :)
1e stuff hugely lacks detail compared to 2e & 3e. The incredibly short stat blocks mean the authors could include far more than in 3e, and they universally lack the "railroaded assumed plot" that could harm 2e modules. 1e modules laid a basic groundwork for the DM and expected us to get on with it. They were mostly (assumed) hack & slash, w occasional puzzle, trap, & roleplayed scene. Maybe they were nonsensical, but they were never both as nonsensical AND as indecipherable as Necropolis, which scenario seems to combine the worst features of 'old' and 'new' gaming.
