Need a feat

Marshall

First Post
..for a 1st level Druid heading for the Arcane Heiro PrC. As far as I can tell, the only feats a Druid qualifies for that might stay useful beyond third level is Sudden Extend or maybe waste the feat slot on SF(Conj) to meet the prereq for Augment Summoning. Any other suggestions? I already went thru one adventure with no feat, I dont want to keep it that way...

Natural Spell So you can still cast while Wildshaped.

Though nothing's wrong with Augmented Summoning

Dont qualify 'til 5th for NS and while there nothing wrong with AS itself, the SF(Conj) prereq is a wasted feat.

That's the arcane/druid mix similar to mystic theurge, correct?

If so, I suggest Practiced Spellcaster.

Well, yeah. Eventually. But the character isnt going to get any use out of it until 6th level+, so I figured that I'd try to find something useful in the mean time.

Greenbound Summoning, if you want to make your DM suffer and curse your name for a thousand years. That is, assuming that he or she doesn't have the info on the corrections it needs.

If you plan on Wildshaping in the future, Combat Expertise would be useful.

First level druid? For my first level druid, I took Animal Defiance, but that's from Masters of the Wild, which may no longer be allowed.

I'd say Augment Healing. As you can't afford to prepare lots of healing spells, you can as well make them as efficient as possible. AH for a first-level caster gives you cure minor wounds at +2 hp and cure light wounds at 1d8+3 hp. Then later you could take Spontaneous Healer (if your arcane class is Bard or Wizard, you'll be able to satisfy the prerequisite without wasting skill points on cross-class skills).

Also, you can take Sudden Silent to be ready to cast spells stealthly or in area of magical silence, and then Sudden Empower. Sudden Empower is very useful, for a lot of things -- damage dealing spells, fodder conjuration spells, etc. If you're human, you can have both at first level.

Where is Greenbound from?

Or you could just take a simple yet useful feat like Improved Initiative or Skill Focus: Concentration. No need to trick out on metamagics just yet. Spell Focus (conjuration) might be a bit weak, but Augment Summoning does rock. Or you could Spell Focus in another school, like Evocation for all your call lightnings and flame strikes in the future, or Transmutation for more-likely-to-be-usable-soon spells like entangle and chill/heat metal.

Demiurge out.
