Need a short summary: Oriental Adventures 3.0

One of my favorite characters in 3rd ed was a western style Barbarian who went for the OA Bear Warrior prestige class. Later I asked the GM if the Bear shape abilities of that class would qualify me for the Shapeshifer prestige class from OA. He said sure. In game it worked out perfectly. The Shapeshifter Pclass required a 10 concentration. My Barbarian was on a spirit quest to touch his totem (the Bear, obviously.) He was really impressed when he saw the powers of our druid and started training in meditation with her. (OOC: he took 2 levels of ranger and put all his points into concentration.) He had just taken the first level in Bear warrior and was planning to take shpeshifter next level when that campaign ended. Dammit. :(

So yeah, there is some cool stuff for any game in OA. But if you want specifically asian-ish stuff I'd go for AEGs Rokugan class. Some cool classes, and some really cool feats.

Never checked it out before. This thead got me thinking about running an Oriental themed campaign. Are there any other similar themed campaign settings out there?
IIRC, WotC has whatchamacallit with extra/bonus material on it's site for OA that corresponds to ancient India. I think I have that DL'd....

Stan!'s OA setting of Mahasarpa is the WotC website's Oriental Adventures web enhancement. It's several years old now. I think I may have downloaded it as well, but haven't looked at it in quite some time now since the only OA campaign I've had the chance to run so far was a modified/expanded Rokugan campaign (vanara shamans and Kakita family iaijutsu masters and weasel hengeyokai sorcerers and nezumi rangers in the same party....fighting halfling maho-tsukai and kappa and dwarven psions and half-elf samurai.....weee!).

Thanks everyone! I'm glad I was able to stir up some interesting consideration of the book. I found a brand new copy for $16, so I bought it. I hope to get some decent crunch out of it.

Sorry to be so late to the party, but when I purged by game book library a few months ago of most of my 3.0 books and all of my 3.5 materials, OA was one of maybe two or three 3.0 supplements I kept along with my core books - I love the OA Shaman class (much better than the Druid, IMHO), the Taint rules, hengeyokai and nezumi, and many of the monsters, all of which were included in my non-Eastern three-oh homebrew setting.

For anyone that cares, I've had a chance to get into the book. While it is true that a lot of the worthwhile crunch has been reproduced elsewhere, the stuff that remains is interesting and useable to me. Furthermore, the Rokugan stuff is interesting reading if nothing else, and the book itself is just very aesthetically pleasing. I'm happy with it.

Thanks again.
