So my FLGS **still** hasn't received our Dark Sun Encounters kits. The WotC rep promises kits have been sent FedEx Overnight, but he also promised the kits would show up early last week, then by Wednesday morning, then by late last week, then by this morning. So I'm not counting on having the kits.
Last Wednesday 14 people showed up to play, including four people who have never played D&D before and a two or three who hadn't played any RPG for at least five years. I described the world of Athas, let them look through the pregen sheets, and let them take home the tracking sheets and "Ten Things about Dark Sun" page I'd had the foresight to print out a couple dozen copies. I also described the whole concept of Encounters and for the completely new people the concept of a role playing game and D&D.
Everyone left less disappointed than when they I first told them there would be no gameplay. And everyone was super excited for a double session tomorrow night.
So... suggestions? Should I bring another adventure to just play some D&D? Should I say I will call everyone when we get the stuff and play Thursday or Friday or whenever? Should I burn down our WotC rep's house? Yeah, I'm pretty frustrated with the situation.
I'm leaning toward the "bring something, anything to play" idea. Any suggestions for an adventure? Anyone have a nice little 4E Dark Sun adventure I could borrow?
