Need help making a LUCKBLADE +

Belares

First Post
I have a chance to get my admantine rapier turned into a luck blade. I have aquired a scroll of miracle from a task I recently finished.

1. What would be my cost if i let a 17+ cleric with craft magic arms & armor make me a luckblade with 0-3 wishes? I have the miracle scroll already and does he/she need to use there own spells and experience? Please help I am baffled by the price and the cost, thanks.

2. I also would add the scroll was a favor from Tymorra (my diety) and would that affect anything in the making of the weapon? Just want a opionion as my DM will probably want to know.

3. Does luck bonuses stack? I have luck of heroes which gives me the same as what a luckblade would give me? I don't think they do but we are debating as to whether or not to allow it since I am a priest/rogue of Tymorra and the reroll per day stacks (at least nothing says it doesnt).

4. if i want to make it holy or keen what would you say is the +'s on it so I can add something to it later? Is it considered +3 total or less/more?

Ok.

The costs given for the luck blade are really pretty weird. The XP expenditure is lower than the XP component of the Wish or Miracle, which really shouldn't be. ;)

1. Your adamantine rapier would replace the (masterwork) short sword normally used, so the cost would be market price minus the cost for a masterwork short sword (310 gp). Since you also have a scroll of miracle you can imbue one wish into it, each wish should need one such spell to be cast.

Given the way this item is priced, the market price would therefore be as follows:
Price 21,750 gp (0 wishes), 62,050 gp (1 wish), 102,350 gp (2 wishes), 142,650 gp (3 wishes).

This does not figure in the scroll, however.

Here's how I would price it:

The basic blade is "as is" (that's the ~20k gp). Every wish would add the hypothetic cost of a potion of wish, that is: 9x17x50 gp = 7,650 gp plus 25,000 gp for the 5,000 XP for a total of 32,650 gp. This also corresponds with the cost of a ring of three wishes, by the way, altho that one has CL 20th for some reason, as it is priced for CL 17th. Not that it really matters. ;)

So, effectively (including, that the already existant adamantine rapier is used as a base for the enchantment), the market price would then be as follows:
Price 21,750 gp (0 wishes), 54,400 gp (1 wish), 87,050 gp (2 wishes), 119,700 gp (3 wishes);
Cost 10,875 gp + 870 XP (0 wishes), 14,700 + 6,176 (1 wish), 18,525 gp + 11,482 XP (2 wishes), 22,350 gp + 16,788 XP (3 wishes).

The scroll would further reduce the price for the 1-3 wishes version by 25,000 gp, or the creation cost by 5,000 XP, it would not be needed for the 0 wishes version.

2. That wouldn't affect things. However, if your DM allows Miracle to create magic items, like Wish, the scroll of miracle could include an XP reserve (when creating a magic item, which allows the user to cast a spell, which costs a variable amount of XP (i.e. Permanency or Wish), you can store additional XP in the item to use up for whatever the spell is used for. In this case, a Wish could be used to create a magic item, but you would have to pay additional XP (see Wish - "When a wish creates or improves a magic item, you must pay twice the normal XP cost for crafting or improving the item, plus an additional 5,000 XP."). If the scroll is meant to be that special, it could have enough of an XP reserve, that you can just wish for your rapier to become a luck blade, using the Miracle spell to "Create a magic item, or add to the powers of an existing magic item." Your DM should then adjudicate how many (0-3) wishes the blade would contain, depending on how many XP are stored inside the scroll.

Necessary XP reserve (going by the intent, not the literal reading, that is... the additional XP you have to pay for the Wish would not double the 5,000 XP component of every wish placed inside the blade, but only the other XP cost (to figure in the gp cost, obviously, which you do not pay for, otherwise) would be (using my own prices above):
Reserve 1,740 XP (0 wishes), 7,352 (1 wish), 12,964 XP (2 wishes), 18,576 XP (3 wishes).

3. No, it doesn't. But nothing would prevent you from naming it differently as a work-around, i.e. sacred or holy.

4. The luck blade is a +2 weapon. The rest is just added stuff, that does not interfere with the "pluses". Of course, because of the multiple different abilities rule, this "added stuff" would cost +50% more, but in case of the wishes, I think this is ridiculous, because it's way too expensive for an expendable item; the luck bonus and the re-roll would have to be priced accordingly, I suppose/assume this has been figured into the base cost for the luck blade already.

Hope this helps!

Bye
