Heh.
Actually, that's not quite what I need.
I've been digging out CDs and disks for the past few days of the good old games... my Ultimate Ultima Collection disk, my Forgotten Realms Archive collection, Synidcate Wars, Transarctic, you name it...
Problem is, these are all DOS games. My computer is so advanced it can't run DOS, or something.
What I need is... I dunno... a DOS emulator, or something. Something that would act like a DOS shell, but set up a fake sound card to route to my real one (That's the #1 problem, sound... I can get a lot of them working from command prompt, but there is no way to get sound), handle the strange memory types, etc.
Does such a thing exist?
I'm running Windows, by the way, if the reference to command prompt didn't give it away.
Baring that, anyone got an old, say, Pentium 100 with *real* dos, a soundblaster 16, and maybe a copy of windows 3.1 or 95 on it they would sell me cheap? Be nice if it had a CD-Rom too, or could at least take one.
Also, does anyone know a way to force windows XP to run in 256 color mode? I have an old windows 3.1 game I like that refuses to run in anything but 256 color mode, but it's not even an option.
