Need Help Remebering an Egyptian Novel

I am hoping some group think can help me remember a novel I read years ago (1980s most likely) and now can not remember the title nor author. But I do remember elements of the plot quite vividly.

The plot centered on a young man moving into his uncle's(?) house as an inheritance or perhaps to house sit. The Uncle is an Egyptologist and the house is filled with artifacts. During his stay there, a portal of some sort opens and the protagonist ends up accompanying Ra on his boat ride through the underworld. Does any of that ring a bell? Like I mentioned earlier the novel is likely 20 years old. I do remember enjoying it, but I guess not enough to keep it around.

I am working on a story concept that involves Ra's travels and I want to make sure I am not plagiarizing some half remembered story I read in my youth.

Found it. Pyramids by Saberhagen, 1981. The novel starts as I described it but then involves aliens and time travel to ancient Egypt to rob artifacts. I seem to have blissfully erased that part from my memory.

Anyone remember this book? I can pick it up for cheap (+shipping) on the web, but will look locally in used bookshops first.
