Hi guys!

I'm contemplating going to gen con this year and I'm trying to understand that's going on in there, is there any FAQ section? Because I couldn't find one.

VIG and VIG companion are sold out.

VIG tickets are limited tickets available which grant special privileges at GenCon: earlier hotel room selection, shorter lines for event registration, a room where gamers can hangout, rest, drink free sodas, play in special events, members can go to a "mixer" and talk to industry leaders, designers, (e.g., Peter Adkinson), etc.

A VIG can buy 3 tickets which are VIG companion tickets. This allows friends of the VIG to go into the VIG room, purchase an additional room, etc.

I think its just there as an a description. It mentions that it is sold out in the purchase part (or may add you to a wait list).

If you buy VIG or VIG Companion, it includes registration to the con.

Typically, event tickets cost $4-$6. Some events are free for example seminars and some workshops. If you perform a google search, you may find the 2013 GenCon event listing as a csv file which is viewable extremely well in Excel (over 8,000 entries) so far.

This just in from GenCon is a great podcast. I wish I knew about it the time I went to GenCon. It's kinda been a heads up of the cool stuff you might not want to miss and an overview of the previous day. Along with interviews and guests, fun show and a great listen while at the con as well.

There are other pocasts that covered last year and years before, some could make a good primer for attending and what to expect.

Basically thousands of people come just like you and play awesome games and sometimes end up spending way too much on all the awesome stuff there. Last time I went I spent a good $200 more than I wanted.
