Need help with an idea

Sir Devria

First Post
My group is about to start in a new world that i have made. The world is mostly savage jungle (Isle Of Dread style ;) ) and its main population is a nomadic tribe of Half Giants. Now what im trying to do is think of a way to allow the champion of these people to with stand heavy punishment seeing as how by His tribes faith he is unable to were armor. One of my PCs (half giant viking) is going to have a dramatic battle with this champion as a means for me to break in these people. Im trying to think of a way to allow extra or reserve health but in a non unbalancing way. If the custom rule acctually turns out good then i intend to use it as a full out game element for both NPC and PC. All ideas are most appreciated.

Well, first of all, not wearing physical armor does not mean this tribe's champion is nog hung with all manner of special fetishes and charms, some of which may include armor like effects, limited damage reduction, fast healing etc.

To avoid such relatively powerful items from falling into PC hands in an unbalancing way, they could only function on people of the tribe, only function if certain daily rituals and taboos are observed, only if the charms have been made by the person wearing them etc. etc.

High Dexterity, High Wisdom Monk?

Also, what constitutes the forbidden "armor" in the eyes of the people? Could the champion wear bracers, for example?

One more possibility - presumably, your half-Giant Viking is Good, or at least Neutral? Then maybe you could add to the Viking's moral high ground in the fight by having the champion be a cheat: invisible armor, or something else that he's been using and hiding against the rules of the tribe.
