Need help with enemy races.

Tyrias

First Post
I need to avoid giving too much information away, as some of my players surf EN World, but basically I need help associating races with text on a certain character.

Needs to represent:

Bull: Minotaur
Man:
Ram:
Serpent: Dragonborn
Cock(Rooster, for the pervs):

Serpent and Bull were easy, but Ram and Cock I'm not sure what would be closest. As for Man, I just didn't wanna use humans, too generic.

Thanks in advance.

Kenkus are bird men.

I am not sure how sold you are on Dragonborn's as Serpent but there are several options: Bullywugs, Yuan-Ti(literally snake people), and Lizardfolk could work.

Humans: plenty of options

Ram: Tiefling?

Cock was optional, and yeah dragonborn isn't great, but I already used it in an encounter last session. Wish I hadn't, but I can't really take it back now. Many thanks for the suggestions, I guess I'll use tiefling for ram if no other options are suggested.

Do they need to be race by RAW? I mean, do you need something with PC or PC-like (monster) race traits such as Hobgoblin, Githzerai, etc.? Or will the "races" with only monster data work for you?

Regarding serpent, Yuan-Ti should have been much better if you can somehow change the course. I guess you can just say that those Dragonborns were just some grunts of of true serpent race.

Regarding Ram, Tiefling may work, but there were large outsider which resembles ram-man called Ramadeen in 3.5e. Maybe you can use the stats of savage minotaur or something and re-skin it as Ramadeen.

And you can always make-up your own ram-man, cock-man, etc. You can either use existing monster's stats and just re-skin. Or you can use monster creation guideline in DMG.

I was just trying to use creatures out of MM1-3 due to being already balance. Tweaking is easy enough, just was afraid of making one from scratch. I might take your advice and use Yuan-Ti and Dragonborn, and use both Tiefling and custom Ramadeen as well. Should be able to pull it off without much argument from the players. Also, Kenku apparently isn't a 4e race, so if I want to use, I'll have to customize it too. I'm using Eladrin as my "man" race, because it takes place in an Eladrin city.

Ram: Tieflings give you the horns, but I would actually suggest Goliaths; strong, sturdy mountain-dwelling folk who match the concept of "ram" much more closely thematically than the Tiefling does. If Goliaths have no pre-established place in your campaign world you can even give them horns if you want to. Of course, if you're going in the direction I think you are with this, then Tiefling may be just appropriate.

Serpent: Depending on how much you've given away, you can always make an Author's Saving Throw and hand wave the Dragonborn your characters faced as something else (maybe a thrall meant to serve as a red herring), at which point definitely go with Yuan-Ti.

Man: Shadar-Kai. Changelings might also work; depending on the direction you're going with it Shifters might fit too, but doubtfully not better than the other two.

Cock: A lighter variant of Kenku might be in order here. Again, it depends on which is more important; matching physically or thematically. Thematically, roosters signal the dawn; the rise of the sun. You might find something along those lines, though nothing immediately springs to mind.

Thanks for all the help. I decided on the following:

Bull: Minotaur
Man: Shadar-Kai
Ram: Tiefling
Serpent: Yuan-Ti
Cock: Kenku (found some in MM)

Also there was an option for Dragon I was gonna avoid, but works just as well so I can have the Dragonborn I previously used.

Thanks again :D
