Need ideas for a the creation of a class....

Steampunk

First Post
Anyway, I'm the keeper for a d20 CoC group, and I'm getting ready to run a game set in the 1600's in japan. I'm using actual occupations in the game, instead of just the defense and offense options in d20 CoC. I've got stats for Samurai, Ninja, and a host of other japanese style occupations. But one of the characters in my game wants to play a Christian missionary. The question is, for anyone who has experience in creating classes for d20 systems, idoes anyone have an idea how to create an actual class for a priest, without making it a cleric that has very limited spells.
Personally I was thinking of allowing the PC to play a Diplomat from the Dungeon Masters Guide for D&D 3.5 and adding on a few minor abilities, like being able to bless weapons and create holy water, probably gaining a new ability every three levels. Nothing too powerful.
Anyway, any ideas that anyone can help with, I would be grateful.

Thanks

You could start with the d20 modern Charisma base class with the Acolyte advanced class added onto it and modify from there.

Ahem, I wonder what you are meaning with "actual occupations in the game, instead of just the defense and offense options", and what Diplomat class in the DMG 3.5?

If I were you, I would use Grim Tales or d20 Modern for classes.
