Need some pirate minis cheap

Ilium

First Post
Ok, I know this is going to be a tall order, but maybe somebody can give me a suggestion. I am planning to run a pirate one-shot game and I'd like to have some minis. But as this is a one-shot I don't want to spend much money, and I definitely don't want to paint anything (I told you it was a tall order). The one area that I'm flexible on is scale. If I can get some figures that are in scale to each other but are bigger than standard 25/28 mm, I can just print out the maps at a bigger scale too.

So any suggestions are welcome. I would be open to using cardboard counters as well, but minis would be better. Any ideas?

Thanks.

"Cloudreavers" from the War of the Dragon Queen set make great pirates. They were common so they should be pretty cheap.

Edit: In fact, Auggies has 29 in stock at .29c each. For under $9 you could have plenty of pirate miniatures. Add $3.50 for shipping and you are all done.

Excellent. You guys rock. The only way I could get them cheaper is to go raid SavageRobby's collection. :)

EDIT: Those cloudreavers will be perfect for generic pirates. I still need minis for the PCs, though if anybody has any other idea.

Peruse Auggies site. A lot of other figs there to look at. Finding a whole collection of piratey pc's might be tough though.

If you want minis to paint yourself, the Corsairs of Umbar from Games Workshop might work.

lots of plastic for $25 - 30.

Those look pretty cool, but sadly I have neither the time nor the talent to paint my own minis. Especially for a game I'm only going to run once. 24 minis for $25.00 is a pretty good deal, though, if you do enjoy the painting.

@Festivus: I'll check out Auggie's. I've heard good things about that place.

And a link to Auggie's for those who are interested.

Auggies is awesome. I've been buying minis from Andrew for almost 3 years now (wow, hadn't realized it had been that long), and he's always been a top quality seller. It helps that he has great prices and a great shipping policy, but he believes in great customer service as well (and he's just a nice guy).

You might be able to find a few singles that would work for pirate types. Here are a few suggestions that should be available:

Tavern Brawler (more another NPC type)
Karsite Fighter (a bit too much armor, but nice and evil looking)
Vampire Hunter
High Inquisitor
Assassin
Prisoner (oar slave)
Aspect of Loviatar (someone has to whip the slaves!)
Half Orc Executioner
Half Orc Spy
Tiefling Rogue
Torturer
Shadowdancer
Doomguard
Inspired Lieutenant (okay, its a stretch)
Shuluth (the pirate mind-flayer)

Happy pirating! :)

On the less elegant side, a Target department store near where I live had a $1 bag of little plastic pirates. I snatched one up because you never know when they might come in handy ;)
