Needed: Good Monster Books!

Agreed PWD,

I felt Monsternomicion and Tome of Horrors deserved their awards. (Not necessarily in the order but still deserving). Fiend Folio is nice, and MM2 is good. Course I'm biased but I believe CC2 and CC Revised are great monster books. But then that's just me.

Monsternomicon by Privateer Press is the must have product.

Liber Bestarius by Eden is another good one.

Monsternomicon is really the best. Tome of horrors is also really good, and you can't go wrong with Monster manuel 2, fiend folio, and monsters of faerun.

Wow! Looks like by far the Monsternomicon and Tome of Horrors has been the most popular vote (among others...). Can some of you who seem to like those tell me why you think they are such a good choice? I don't want to go out and spend $30-$40 for a book I am not going to like .

Go read the reviews on the main page if you want lots of detail, but here's my brief description.

Monsternomicon - Not as many monsters as some other books out there, but that doesn't mean it's lacking. It gives so much great detail on everything. The book is narrated from the point of view of a monster hunter in the Iron Kingdoms, hunting down and doing research on all these different creatures. (Steve Irwin?). There are plot hooks and monster knowledge checks for your players. The art is uniformily AMAZING, and there are at least two pictures of almost every critter - plus a size comparison chart so you can get a feel for how big the thing is.

Tome of Horrors - Can't find your favorite baddie from a previous edition? Chances are good that it's in here. There are a TON of monsters in this tome (aptly named!) ready to fill any niche you have for them.
