Needed: Random encounter tables for the Pomarj

I think Dragon 274 contained a bestiary with monsters from the Pomarj... The grimorian, the raknakle, the skerath, and the skittermaw...

Yah, a 55% chance for a wyvern encounter might be a bit much. Wyverns are cool but they aren't that cool.

Personally, I don't really like most random encounter tables but that's neither here nor there.

It's not a 55% chance for a Wyvern. It's a 55% chance to roll on the standard encounter table in the back of the 1E DMG, which is full of other options. Matter of fact, it's about a 1-2% chance on those tables to roll up "Dragon", then you go roll on the Dragon subtable. I think the Wyvern is somewhere in the 12-15% range on that table.

and you can always replace the 'wyvern' with a dragonnel from MMII which are specifically said to live in the Pomarj in MMII.

01-50 Orcs
51-85 Some other ugly humanoids
86-96 Really misguided humans
97-98 Wyvern (just for Algolei)
99 Turrosh Mak, carrying a can of whup-a$$ with the PCs' names on it
00 Roll twice

well, the area is pretty thoroughly dominated by the humanoids, so they should be the most common monsters encountered. Along with them, you could have the critters that hang around with them as possible encounters; worgs, wolves, hyenas, hill giants, etc. I don't imagine there will be a lot of dangerous things around that will eat humanoids as well as adventurers... why would the humanoids tolerate them any more than humans would have big dangerous critters running around in their lands?

I'd recommend finding a copy of Slavers, a 2E book that SKR and I did during the brief Greyhawk revival of that era. It has got a bunch of info on the Pomarj.

I thought I'd find stuff on this easily enough, but nope, not so far. Even my 2E (I think it's 2E) module booklet Slavers doesn't have one!
