Ah yes, The Night Below--pretty damn good underdark campaign.

Yeah, you just gotta love Night Below - and the aboleth in Monte's Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil was a pleasant suprise...

i converted Night Below to 3e (see the conversion forums). The aboleths' are downright nasty with clerical and mage levels. The shadow dragon? Forgetaboutit! Kuo-toa with monk levels? Pray for death...

Night below is on the epic scale of RtToEE as far as meatgrinderism...

i love it..

sverfneblin..

Svirfneblin.

There's so many underdark race !

What about blue ring octopii ? Dire corbies ? Grell ? Myconids ?

I voted neogi a bit at random. These things didn't even make it to 3e, so they are neglected. Those rom giants also, probably, but I never heard of them before.

Bonedagger mentionned deep goblins... Myself, I've made deep orcs. I'd like to use them on my players later: orcs with SR, 120 ft. darkvision like other deep races, a permanent spider-climb effect (just as a reference to a certain movie...) who worship Yurtrus, the mute orc god of death and disease. Evil necromancers and plague-spreaders, all...

I've made a lot of funny orcish subraces like that... steppe orcs who run really fast, nearly-illithidesque black orcs who are trying to have their sacred city recover the whole world, etc.

Rom are an extremely rare race of undead deep giants, with skin coloration similar to drow and duergar.

Salutations,

tsk tsk- Rom was a space knight from galador who came to earth to hunt the dire wraiths.

Those darn dire wraiths.. always up to their no good tricks.

That is easy: Kuo-Toans.

They are nastier than drow and very alien all in a low CR package. Anyone who has fought pincer-staff armed, lightning-flinging kuo-toan fighter-priests knows what I'm talking about. Oh and don't forget the flypaper shields and dreaded kuo-toan monitors.

They are immune to a lot of magical and mundane effects (grappling, webs, lightning, many charms and illusions) and they can see invisible, astral and ethereal creatures as an extraordinary ability. They also are one of the few aquatic races who suffer no penalty for operating on land.

Aboleth are cool too but not nearly as flexible.

Skum

Skum. They have the most idiotic and ridiculous name of any creature in D&D.

Look at the picture! Don't you want to tell your newbie characters about the Skum they've encountered?

They're Skum.
