It's about time. MacFarlane has needed someone to tell him he isn't a god for a long time. I get sick of hearing him talk about how wonderful he is, and how everyone else is out to get him because he is the greatest thing to hit comicbooks since colored ink. Maybe he'll go away now, but I doubt it.

True. Does he still publish comics? Seems like he concentrates on his action figures these days. Tried to read one of the old Spidermans he wrote and illustrated and was rolling my eyes.

Yes, Spawn is still around, but most of Macfarlane's money comes from his sports and toy lines. I'll admit that some of the action figures are great, but I won't buy any of them again. After reading so many interviews with him where he praises himself, and hearing him gloat over buying Mark Macguire's baseball a few years ago, he has become one of the few public people I really detest. Some people need to learn that it's not all about them, and he's one of those people. Ego, money, and fame among a comparatively small segment of the population do not make you untouchable. OK, thats the end of my Macfarlane rant.

Personally, I think McFarlane just likes going to court. He's been there more than just about any other comics creator, and that includes the likes of Kirby, Siegel and Schuster and Michael Fleischer. Actually, I take that back, slightly....Harlan Ellison has certainly been in court more, but not usually for comics-related reasons, and unlike McFarlane, he usually wins.

Ahh, Harlan Ellison. I was yelled at by Mr. Ellison when I worked at HarperCollins. He called up and was asking questions regarding a short story of his that had been included in a collection we published. I guess I didn't get the answer he wanted quickly enough, and when I picked the call up after having him on hold for a minute or two, he launched into a tirade about not keeping people on hold, and how rude it was, and that office assistants didn't know how to treat people correctly anymore. I found his honesty to be quite refreshing (even as he was yelling at me), compared to the agents I usually had to deal with on the phone. Another difference between Macfarlane & Ellison. Ellison may be obnoxious and rude and have a huge ego, but he is usually right about the things he rants about. Macfarlane just thinks he is right. There is a BIG difference, and Ellison still has my respect, even after getting an earful from him. Plus, he usually yells at everyone, so I couldn't take it too personally.

really, I thought it was Jim SHooter...
Nah, actually Jim Shooter is a fairly personable guy once you get past all of the old hype and baggage that has travelled with him through the years. His ego has subsided substantially in contrast to Byrne's, McFarlene's, Rob Liefield's and Jim Starlin's.
