Neil Gaiman wins suit against McFarlane

So, I must have missed some back-story here. What was this lawsuit about? Who actually sued who, and over what? Just curious...seeing as Neil Gaiman is generally a personable and witty fellow, and McFarlane is a tool, it makes me happy that he won, but I wouldn't mind knowing what the fight was about, y'know?

As I understand it, it was about the ownership of the character "Medieval Spawn" and two others. McFarlane claimed that he was the sole owner, while Gaiman claimed co-creatorship.

All I remember is how I loved reading Spidey when McFarlane was the artist, but not the writer. After he took over the story elements I kept reading it but it just sucked so bad I dropped it after a few issues.

I don't know about his ego but his writing was horrid.
