D&D 5E (2024) Netheril in 1502. Time Vaults, Gates, Rebirth?

So I didnt think much of the Netheril DLC they released recently. Karsus subplot was in BG3 however.

My current campaign will feature the remnants of the Shades snd various Netherese survivors (mostly late 3.5 plot hooks).

So I'm thinking time travel. Rather than returning to Netheril i
I'm thinking of Netheril arriving in current Faerun.

It kind of got done in 3E with the shades. Never used plotline back then, no one else playing knows much.

Several ideas though.

1. Time gates allowing arrival in 1502DR. Or changing the fate of an Enclave.

2. Time vaults. Think Crystal Cave adventure. A decade or two has passed for them. Close to 2000 years has passed.

3. Suspended animation. Stasis and/or lost in time reappearing in 1502.

4. Netherese survivor state. Similar to Shades extra planar or elsewhere on Toril

Netherese survivors playing games.

1. Ioulaum. Messing around with time gates. Was an undead elder brain has used the brain to calculate time manipulation.

2. Aumvor. Wants to restore Netheril. Has stasis vaults of Netherese survivors and post fall Netherese (Anauria, Asram, Hlondeth)

3. Larloch. Wants to oppose the surviving Shades. Doesn't care about resurrecting Netheril. Could be bribed one way or another.

4. Terraseer. Gave the Nether scrolls to original Netherese. Has its own goals.

5. Karsus the momentary god. Resurrected with second sundering (still was a god-momentarily) but lacks memories snd his power. Currently broken spellfire user.

6. Surviving shades. Focused on new Shade and creating a flying enclave. Campaign BBEG

The various factions are looking at ways of bypassing Mystras ban. Shadow weave, Karsite weave/heavy magic, mythallars and time travel (casting level 10+ spells pre fall).

God drama is Netherese gods. Shar, Selune, Mystra bring obvious ones but Jergal as well.

Do depending on PC actions thoughts on following ideas.

1. Jergal assumes the mantle of God of the Dead. Everyone else has been incompetent, Krlemvor is over it. Becomes decipher opposed to undead.

2. Netheril may get resurrected as a microstate near new Shade. Up to 3 new enclaves appear (new shade, Selunaara, New one).

4. Karsus becomes demipower of magic or patron of Netherese magic.

Thoughts on tine manipulation preserving an enclave or two (theyre on the ground when the fall happens). Aumvor would want to unite any Netherese factions at the end. PC actions can foil any schemes.

Basic road map.

5th level. Netgerese Portal Jetwork, establish bastions.

6th-7th. Explore Netherese Ruins including Anauria a Asram. Meet Jergal

8th. Conflict with shades. Think act 2 BG3 in the Shaol of Thirst.

Level 9/10. Pick sides with various Netherese. Potentially heal or bury Karsus.

10/11 final showdown with Shades and revelations of the Netherese liches.
