New 3.5 "splat books" worth it if you have the old ones?

So overall, I'd say get the Player's Guides by S&SS. ;) Oh wait you wanted 3.5 WotC splats? Eh. Try out Complete Warrior then.

Right, the several revised spells, feats, PrC, in the new splats that supercede/make work for 3.5e the old stuffs are especially grand, let alone all the new stuff to boot.

I'd buy the new splats over the three books you're considering buying already. UA is really for DMs to peruse and not players, in case you're a player (for creative and inexhaustive DMs it's great), Exalted wasn't the best put together and may not be appropriate for all campaigns, and Underdark is also very narrowly focused on underground set campaigns. While the splats will serve well in most any campaign.

MD,

Yep. You know how I think. (Thank you Chardun and you're sagicious use of Rend the Soverign Soul and other nice compulsions/charms. ;) )

Pretty much as they say. I was impressed with CW when it came out and considered it far superior to the spalt books. CD is not as good as CW - and not just because of its poor editing, but because it is filled with less useful information (for my campaign). I still think it's a good investment.

Of course, all the above is assuming you're using 3.5.

Personally, I picked up the Complete Warrior when it was dirt cheap on Amazon. I wasn't hot after it as I already have all the wotc splats and some thrid party ones, and my hat of 5.3 know no limit. I was really impressed, and would recommend it even if you still use the 'real rules' like me. The feats are very nice.

I have all of the above. Complete Warrior has gotten the most use by myself and my players. I'm still evaluating Complete Divine but my opinion follows much the same as what's already posted here: CW is better. Unearthed Arcana is kinda nice, in that you have a slew of new rules options, but to perfectly honest, with the exception of action dice I use none of it. And even the action dice are my own variant (each player gets 3 at the start of each gaming session... I have some notoriously bad dice rollers like a guy who didn't roll above 10 on a D20 the whole night and it has meant the difference between life and death for them). I haven't used very much out of either BoVD or BoED, but I may in time. Underdark I don't use, but my campaign is currently above ground in Ravenloft so it doesn't come into play.

I never had the 3.0 splatbooks, but I do know that the Complete series so far is 1. PrClass heavy 2. Awesome anyway (Complete Divine is a little nutty, but both are just good resources)

I do wonder what WotC's stance on some of the old stuff that didn't get reprinted is. I can see they didn't reprint Expert Tactition because they thought the feat was not balanced. However, I wonder why no Duelist? Maybe my line of thought is completely off...
