New 3.xE Products in 2009

Lots of good things in the words, but I'm especially looking forward to Monte's new short Ptolus adventure, the Book of Experimental Might, and the Legacy of Fire adventure path from Paizo.

Like others, I'm looking forward to Paizo's stuff. The ones I'm particularly interested are Dragons Revisited and Dungeon Denizens Revisited, since they'll be similar to Classic Monsters Revisited, which was one of the best gaming books I've ever bought. I'm also interested in looking at The Great Beyond for an alternate planar setup that will still be similar to the Great Wheel cosmology.

War of the Burning Sky Compiled Hardcover.
Actually, that was on my 2008 wish list.

For 2009 I'm looking forward to Pathfinder RPG, especially the bestiary. Apparently they have found some way of streamlining the dreaded 3.5 stat block.

If Pathfinder leaves me with any money left, I'll see what else is out there.

Please could you give any more details on the adventure from Monte that you have? This is the first I've heard of it!

Nothing ever published compares to the Great City CS and the related adventure path coming out for Urban Based campaigns (unlike so many of the campaigns which start of urban and end up elsewhere). It's a must have for 3.5e.

A must have for 3e, huh?

Could you tell me (and whoever else is interested) a bit more about this Great City campaign setting? I just looked it up, so I know it's by some guys who make nice maps, but um, that's about it. What's 'Great' about it?

paizo.com - Urban Adventures: The Great City Campaign Setting (OGL) PDF The link has a couple of reviews for the CS. You can find the related adventures there as well. What I love about the setting is that it is generic enough to plug in anywhere, has just the right amount of detail and has amazing plot hooks. I love the underlying political climate as well. Each of the Wards have a very distinct feel to it and are rife with hooks and intrigue.

The related adventures have, for the first time I have seen, created adventures that take full advantage of the setting, and also are very open ended and has great versimilitude. There is also a lot of ambiguity involved in the player choices. I also appreciate the fact that for the first time from what I know of for an adventure path, all the adventures take place within the city itself. In some ways I find it comparable to and better than "Psions signature."

When I think of Shackled City etc. one of the biggest flaws for me, was that the initial development and "roots" were never built on because the PCs left town at some point. The adventures and setting are mostly written by Paizo Contibutors (Tim Hitchcock, Lou Argesta etc.). Now if Nick gets out the Razor Coast stuff, I'd have the perfect setting to place the city in.

Do you mind if I ask why. I've only bought one and it was fine for what it was - a 4-hour convention module.
That is primarily why. It is basic linear convention stuff. Nothing innovative or interesting about most of the modules and the writing has really been disappointing in a few. I was hoping their organized playwould go in an innovative direcoin and instead its followinga similar path as greyhawk.

Basically, it's a pdf-only short adventure to support the fact that the Collected Book of Experimental Might is coming out in print in a couple of weeks. You can read a bit more about it here:

The Chapel Perilous -

Thanks for being interested. Honestly, if the hardcover book and the adventure do well, I might be doing a few more game related things in the future in addition to the other stuff I'm doing (I seem to love to overwork myself like that...)
