New Arch Devils for hell

I basically took the gelugon and formian myrmarch stats and mixed them up. You could have the Myrmegons be the "spokesmen" for the Hive.

I have only just started looking at your article about the formian and already i am very impressed.

aside from the formians what other outsiders would be looking to expand

( would either of the gith ? )
 


You might also have fun with the Rakshasas of Acheron themselves making a push to expand into Baator. More Law than Evil, they can put a unique spin on their alignment compared with Baatezu.

I've had some fun with Rakshasas in my storyhour, and Rip has done some excellent material on them himself.

In case your still interested the gestalt one was actually a character for a 21st lvl gestalt game, he was origionally an ARROW DEMON but was caught in a soul gem spell thus gaining the santified template and loosing the evil and caotic subtypes. any way his base stats for this will be: 18, 18, 18, 16, 16, 16. (he's a demon lord he's allowed to have ludicrously high stats to start with)
here's the base stuff as a gestalt without the santified template:

Name: Bowmaster (i couldent be bothered making a real name)

levels: outsider 10, wizard 1, arcane archer 10, fighter 13. (the level ajustment was 4, we ruled that for gestalt the level ajustment was halved and taken on both "sides")

Hit points: 426 (i think)

AC: not shure but i think it was about 9 (-16 from reckless barrage)

Crit damage was 207 on AVERAGE :] (+1 shocking burst, flaming/icy burst, thundering +12 strength bonus large composite longbows of the void, they had a X6 crit multiplier :] :cool: )

Weapon focus longbow, improved weapon focus longbow, reckless barrage, improved reckless barrage, reflexive shot, improved reflexive shot, powerful critical, hail of arrows[epic], improved toughness, awsome blow (the DM rulled that since i was using large bows i qualified), Rapid shot can't remember the last 2.

HOMEBREW FEATS IN FULL:
RECKLESS BARRAGE/IMPROVED[GENERAL]:
Requirements: BAB +1, Wis 13+/BAB +6, Wis 17+ for improved
Benifit: The use of this feat allows you to subtract a number from your AC and add that number to your TO HIT, this bonus/peanalty may not excede 5 unless you have improved reckless barrage

3RD ED FEATS IN FULL:
REFLEXIVE SHOT [GENERAL]:
Requirements: can't remember but they were HIGH
benifit: gives you a 10' threat with a bow

REFLEXIVE SHOT, IMPROVED[GENERAL]:
Requirements:
Benifit: same as reflexive shot but 30'

POWERFUL CRITICAL[COMBAT]:
Requirements: Str 16+, improved weapon focus with selected weapon
Benifit: +1 crit multiplier

if you see any others you dont know about just ask.

ENWORLD HOMEBREW ITEM ENHANCEMENTS:
OF THE VOID: on a hit these weapons decintigrate the target (as the spell CL20) with a DC 19 Fort save to resist.
Enhancement cost: +5

Important items:
Scarab of Truth: Minor Artifact: Slotless, makes all arrows fired "arrofs of truth"
Gloves of Dexterity +6
Belt of Strength +6
Amulete of Health +6
Ion stone +2 Wis/Cha/Int
14,000 nonmagical arrows

Arrows of truth:
Add 2 to critical multiplier
Can crit undead
Add 3 to critical range
If the AC of an enemy is beaten by 10 or more then an automatic threat is scored

anyway there's the base stuff, if you like you can adapt it yourself or you can wait and I'll probably post the stats (nongestalt) for it at about ECL 40 in a week or so.

Thank you for the link about Rakshasas. I also like the stats for the arrow demon, you could always say he was one of the unusual lawful demons ( always doesn't mean always )

maybe an elemental spellcaster ( fire would be the obvious choice )
what sorts of spellcasters would you not expect to try and conquer hell but would still have the power to do it.
 

Demons being lawful

actually demons/devils are some of the only monsters where always actually means always. cause they have the caotic subtype they cannot be anything other than caotic, authough we've already ignored this once to make Zariel so why not, hell in the game i was playing he was neutral good, He was a demon hunter. he did it goooood too, though for the playtesting of the character build i had him fighting 2 solars, one of them managed to beat my iniative and cast prismatic spray on me, then i got my full attack (10 attacks hehehe :] ) i only needed 4.

just a mention but i noticed that the gestalt character could have killed Zariel as he is in one round, he never would because he would need all crits (and that aint gonna happen against AC: 64, though if i got my 200,000 that the DM took off me back then i might just be making those as touch attacks, and then he's DEAD), still though killing 2 CR 21+ monsters in one round by yourself is no small feat.

Tell me how did you calculate the scarab of truth as an item, it certainly seems like it is beyond normal power.

On the topic of rare spellcasters I am thinking of using Tome of magic stuff, either shadow magic or True name and maybe some incarnum. Is there a class that specializes in soul catching / trading.

I am working on the Formian idea. I have figured out what they are fleeing from in order to expand into the Pits of Baator ( not that they needed much convincing )

As always i welcome any ideas, even if you think it is crazy or wouldn't suit, it might still get the imagination spinning. ( or it could be a really cool idea )
