How about Martha Stewart? She'd make a great Arch Devil. Change the name to something less recognizable, but same basic premise

I feel tempted. I didn't know anything about her, then I saw the reality tv. Yep. Sweet letter writing "how you can better yourself" part especially.

The scarab of truth is ment to be exceding the normal parameters for magical items, its a minor artifact.
though it should be noted that "arrows of truth" actually are a real magical item, they cost about 890gp if i rembember right.

Hi

I am soon creating a new campaign in which Asmedous calls down the second reckoning.
I am interested to hear everyone's Ideas on new Rulers of Hell.
Please note that I do not expect or even want Devils. any concept that is evil ( or not ), powerful and has a reason to rule a plane of existance is of interest to me.

Thank you in Advance

You know, I did this in my campaign. Baalzebul learned that Asmodeus planned to execute him, so, he and Belial attack Stygia and Malbolge to gain power for the upcoming attack. Levistus allied with Mephistopheles and the two attacked Maladomini, well Glasya ordered Fierna to try and seize control of Phlegethos and kill Belial. Mammon took advantage of the uprising in Phlegethos and attacked the plane. The battle continued and ended with Baalzebul gaining his original form and enough political power to avoid execution, as well as a few lords being replaced, and Mephistopheles gaining control of Maladomini (But Baalzebul gained control of Malbolge and gained large quantities of Devine Energy).

First of all, you need to have a faction to start the battle. Mine was a mix of Baalzebul and Asmodeus. Then, think of the fighting factions and how the Arch Devils would react. Then, decide on an ending. For example, in mine Mammon, Fierna, and Belial's waring in Phelgethos ended with Belial and Fierna being replaced in favor of Nergal, an Outcast Duke. Outcast Dukes are great replacements for casualties of Infernal Wars, same with normal Dukes.

Also, think of how the minions of the Arch Dukes would react. If Levistus were to start losing in the war, his minions would fear for their safety, and what better way to survive then betray their master in an attempt to gain favor with Levistus' enemies.

Your Infernal Uprising could end with a new King of Hell, which would likely by Baalzebul or Mephistopheles, but it's your campaign, your choice.

Lastly, if your making a new Duke/Outcast Duke/Arch Devil remember these two steps.
1. Pick a Sin or Two for the Devil to examplify
2. Give it a horrific appearence
Now that you've done this, the rest will come naturally

I have an idea that would totaly screw with your players....

take a run of the mill sucubus...got it, ok now put her aside...

now draw up a human archmage and make him a 'arch devil' make him nice and powerful...

something like Necromancer 3/Master Specilist 5/Lore master 13/Archmage 5...

now here is the trick...the evil archmage is just a dup...he was chamred by the succubus 15 levels ago...he is all powerful...but she really runs the realm

edit:
3 years in the grave and it returns with new posts to feast upon the brains of the living!

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I posted thinking this was new...this game is probly already over and the gm and pcs have moved on...
