Actually, I believe you'll discover when the PHB II comes out, the bards are now using the ROCK power source. Just like this fine example:

Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats a Half-Orc Bard.

My first 3e PC was a portly half-orc bard named Nok (envision Worf singing). He was skilled as a chef and taxidermist, wore a bloodied leather apron, and attacked with meat cleavers.
