I have twenty-four hours before my game begins. It's the third game I've started in three years, thanks to players leaving and coming (I live in an exteremly swift shifting community). This game will begin with two old players and two more new players, one with no experience with role-playing games, the other a former DM. They two old players are fairly good at role-playing, and excellent when it comes to tactical combat.

The overall plot is simple. I will be playing in the Forgotten Realms (or rather, a mirror of that world) with planescape aspects added in. The Realms are about to come under attack from Robert Jordan's Dark One and his minions, allied with the shadows.

That's the overview. I promised the players I would put them right into the action this time, with tension building up quickly, and frankly I want it that way.

The scene is Tilvertown, a couple hours before it is destroyed. I and my players have not read the books dealing with this event, so those won't be a factor.

The PCs begin in an inn, gambling. The man they play against cheats, they find out, they deal with it. They may talk with some other patrons. Then, Tilvertown is attacked by a combined forces of shadows and Wheel of Time Trollocs.

The players are all level one. Currently I'm envisioning a scene with them escorting townspeople out of the embattled town, probably through a tunnel from under the inn, although I am open to other suggestions.

I am also hoping to introduce a recurring villian at the same time.

I'll have roughly three to four hours for this. If I need to, I can split it up. The two players I know are very effiecient role-players.

So, any help you can give in the next 24 hours would be great, so please; the floor is open!

Ah yes, more details;

One player is playing a Psionic Warrior.

I am planning to play the Lord of the Rings Soundtrack and have dry ice handy for effects.

Well. Sounds nice. For effects: What about grey clouds drifting around and catching people who dissolve then? Make it a chase out of the town. Let fires start everywhere without an obvious reason. People run around screaming and the mists thicken now and then and someone dissolves...
