New Cast for Stargate SGI

I don't think satori comments were made because of the age of Bridges & Gossett, I think it was more directed at the fact that neither have been A list actors for quite some time.

.

the Hollywood Squares comment was a crack at their no longer being A list the Ben Gay comment was a crack at their age.

Hollywood is a fickle town one minute you can be an A list actor pulling them into movie houses then poof you are on a TV series. But that does not mean your talent has disappered.

The last time I've seen Gossett is that short-lived NBC series after Knight Rider called the Power of Matthew Starr.

Sheesh that was before both Iron Eagle & Enemy Mine, heck I think it came out about the same time as An Officer and a Gentleman!

Less a comment about the actors ages, and more a comment that I am of an age where I can remember seeing actors of a b grade nature doing bengay commericals.

Hey SG 1 is the show that has had Wayne Brady and Isaac Hayes as Jafar (lol). Take offense as you want, but Beau Bridges and Lou Gossett Jr are not making my cup overflowth with excitment.

Beau always strikes me as a less daring and less talented version of his brother Jeff, which admitedly is an unfair comparison, as Jeff Bridges is an extremely underated actor.

As for Lou Gossett Jr, sorry but I have little love for any of the movies he has been in, over emotional tripe or way to low budget cheesy. When Officer and a Gentleman and Iron Eagle are your best movies well .....

The funny part is I belive Louis Gossett Jr won an oscar for an Officer and a Gentleman, and still wound up with a vaporware career, the vagaries of hollywood certain pointy eared wicca brewing denizens of the enworld jungle are bound to say :)

They are both very good actors. I think the writers can use their talents well and write stuff that will take advantage of them.

This pointy eared middle aged wiccan watches a lot of movies. A lot. A, b, bad bad movies. I love movies.

I have seen both Beau Bridges and Louis Gosset Jr in a lot of movies that went straight to video or were made for TV. And as I said before they are both very talented. Iron Eagle and Officer and Gentleman I own both on DVD. :)

I think Louis Gosset has a powerful screen presence. I think he will make a great jaffa.

But this is all a matter of taste. Because I like these actors it gives me hope that Stargate will pull out of the dumps it on this year.

Of the two, I think Gosset's probably the one with the stronger presence, but
he doesn't seem to have a very wide range. Luckily, I think a Jaffa is right up
his alley.

As for Bridges, he's no acting heavyweight, but he's quite competent. He's really
good at doing 'responsible father figure' and 'out of water... father figure' so he'll
will probably fit right in as The New Commander of SGC.

While neither casting choice thrills me in particular, like if they'd hire... oh, say
Malcolm McDowell as a villain (pleasepleasepleaseohplease some show hire him as
a recurring villain) or something, I feel fairly confident that they'll do well.

My only fear is that, as the Old SG-1 Dynamic is probably pretty much dead now,
that they won't be able to establish a new interesting one.

Beau Bridges?

Beau Bridges?

If I had to pick an actor that is least suitable for playing the role of the SGC, it would be Beau Bridges. Even Richard Simmons would be a better choice. Or Joan Rivers.
