D&D (2024) New Celestials | 2024 Monster Manual | D&D

I still disagree with you about lore replacement in the TSR era, but we're not going to resolve that debate.
The big difference between us is I don't make the distinction between replacement and addition that you do (I think that is it at least). They are both changes that I either determine are good or bad for me and accept, reject, or modify as needed.

I like the talking animal support for Celestials. Be cool to have different celestials for different godly realm.

Still upset there is no Valkyries and Einherjars. Nor D&Dified versions.

A war or death god chucking a bunch of reforged or revived celestial warriors into a war to keep it going seems like a great adventure hook. And every time you kill the named one, they are flown back to be revived angrier and crazier.

Obviously it doesn’t just mean that’s a big bird, because a big bird wouldn’t be able to talk.

The Solar is jacked. The idealized form, the beauty of the human form. I'm not sure what you need clarified. I'm not looking for art of 'realistic' bodies. I'm looking for art of something to aspire to, to inspire.
The "idealized form" differs between cultures and time periods, though.

This is why you don't try to invade Ysgard...

Quasi-relatedly: Glances at copy of God of War Ragnarok

Don't you think people might complain: we just had those in Planescape, why are you wasting space on them here! So to you it is a failure they didn't include them and to others it would be a failure to include them.
Only about half of the variants of each type were included in Planescape, so there are plenty of each type that haven't been updated to 5e yet, including many of the more iconic varieties.

But tha probably means they're saving them for something Manual of the Planes-ish down the road.

Those things existed both in previous editions and in 3pp for 5e, so you have what you need.

I again direct anyone who wants a monster in 5e that WotC hasn't done in that edition to the DMsGuild. It's all there. Really.
