Will characters start flat-footed, even though they are aware of each other (and each other's intentions), prior to combat starting?

it depends, if the prep round roll is 0, both start flat footed, if it's 1-3, they are not flat footed.

I'd like to rephrase one of seasong's questions, about the 'custom' magic items.

In the SRD I'm using, it clearly mentions magic item creation, and talks about how "If a continuous item has an effect based on a spell with a duration measured in rounds, multiply the cost by 4." etc.

If you take a feat to create magic items, won't we be able to create "custom magic items" per the SRD and DMG guidelines?
For example, making a Vest that casts Barkskin 3 times per day?

I'm sorry, that was my mistake, when Seasong said that, the way he phrased it made me think it wasn't in the SRD, and, I didn't go and look it up. You can use any and all magic item creation in the srd, including that custom stuff. Just make sure you reference the relavent portions of the SRD.

Look, I am really intersted in this, and I have a rough draft of a character already done.

My problem is that as of tomorow, I have no computer access for a week, due to college and moving and stuff, and it will take at least a few more days untill I am ready to submit my character.

Just wondering how this will affect my chances.

It depends, I'm going to start judging (looks like it will be just me, since no one else is volunteering.) Next monday. Any before then will be guaranteed consideration. My plan is to go through them, one god at a time, and pick the champion.

If you get your character in before I get to that god, you are fine. If not, then you can always apply the following week for the "non selected" gods.


Also, it looks like we are not having quite the number of entrants I'd hoped for, if you guys no anyone else, talk it up. I know a lot of this board is run on name recognition, and that might be hurting me, since I'm pretty new.

And I sent you the "how" of building a lich, although I decided not to do it. It still would have been a decent build, but I'm hoping to come up with something worse.

Oh, and I got my butt kicked over at RPOL. I totally messed up my first round, and then wasn't able to do enough damage in the second round to win (they also have the Chess King rule - when the PC dies, the fight is over - so my cohort couldn't finish what I'd started).
