I've had a lot of fun with Monk/PsiWars...but my favorite build for those involves books not on your list. Others I've had fun with include Paladin/Sorcs, Sorc/Clerics, and many, many others.

So, repeating & reframing the question above, what kinds of characters do you most enjoy playing? Give us some idea of what resonates with you and we can help you a lot more.

I enjoy playing melee strikers that use speed and not brute force. I also like classes that have some arcane componat to them.

Thank you or the ideas they have helped out alot.

OK, you like "gishy" builds. We can work with that.

Rangers, Rogues, Bards, Monks, Ninjas, Spellthieves, Beguilers, Lurks, War Mages Battle Sorcerers and Soulknives- and many others- tend towards being the light skirmisher types in melee (I'm not going to address relative "power levels")...if they enter melee at all. Some of those tend to be used more as snipers or work around the edges of melee in some way. Some of those classes have built-in arcane (or other) powers. Multiclassing will, of course, get you the arcane stuff if it isn't in the base class.

Now...do you want oddball & kooky, or do you want something more conservative?

On the oddball side, consider what I call a Mage-Brute: Take a Sorcerer (or Battle Sorcerer if you can get it) and load up on spells that either have no Somatic components* so you can cast them in armor, or find spells that are more useful outside of battle than in...and wear armor. (Or don't.) Either way, armor won't be interfering with your casting. In addition, take one of the Sorcerer's Heritage feats from Complete Arcane (Celestial, Draconic, Infernal) and then the "weaponizing feat" that goes with it (Lance, Breath, or Howl, respectively). You will then be able to use your arcane powers in combat, in armor- just not the way most people think. Then, over time, you take feats like Still Spell or Arcane Strike and/or multiclass into more martial classes like Fighter, Ranger or Marshall to boost your melee flexibility. (Or Monk, if you don't want to wear armor.) Or to boost the number of spells at your disposal (for use with your weaponized feat), take another arcane class with lots of spell slots- Beguilers, War Mages, Focused Specialist Wizards- since those feats work with ALL arcane spells (you just need to be a Sorcerer to satisfy prereqs).

If you play a Human, you can get the 2 feats to start this at level 1. If you play an Elf, you'll have to wait until you get a second feat, but you'll start off being proficient in a decent weapon.

* See the Martial Arcanist thread in my sig for a list.

Gotta agree with Danny, PsiWar or even Ardent combined with monk is pretty fun. Especially if you have read a few martial novels and are creative with refluffing.

Shame Factotums are out. They are EXACTLY what you asked for. I mean the match is so exact it is an actual SHAME. Skill over force, tons of extra actions and SPELLS. You get acess to the entire WIz/Sorc list. UMD shenanigans ahoy.

That aside, Complete Arcane Warlocks are notable for ELDRITCH LASER SPAM. You get and INFINITE use ray that scales acceptably and a strange assortment of powers(invocations). You can also cover your melee attacks in DemonFire. Not as awesome as a Factotum but checks all your boxes. Just choose 1 of their abilities(range, debuff, melee) and focus on it.

Try Duskblade from PHB2. It is really fun. I am to play this guy (or in my case gal XD) today afternoon. Keep in mind that it is well written class... almost too darn well written. Meaning that multiclassing hurts it and feats are almost all preset, at least until level 13. It falls into your description of a melee class not using brute force (although depending on STR). you can find a nice handbook on the web.

I didn't care for the Warlock's fluff, personally- I think they definitely improved it in 4Ed- but mechanically its solid. Duskblade is also a well done class.

Thanks again for all the suggestions and sorry it has been so long without a reply from me I have had alot of college stuff this week. The game did get it's start date pushed back so it will give some time to think but I will roll up 3 or 4 characters and c what the party needs. Thanks again
