Welcome to the boards, mr.pink!

First of all, you might want to edit your post so its a little more readable...

Second, what do you get out of that level of Factotum?

Third, what- besides him being a diplomat- can you tell us about his personality?

Another question: How are you taking the Font of Inspiration feat, which boosts your inspiration points, before taking a level in the class that gives you inspiration points?

You should really consider taking Factotem at first level regardless. At level one, you get 4x the skill points, and Factotem not only gives 6 +int mod (and another +1 from human), it also considers every skill in the game a class skill.

purely mechanical purpose of that he is starting at fourth level

2. He can add his int modifier to attacks

3. he was initially trained to be a martial in a military camp, he excelled at diplomacy above all else. on one of his early missions he was sent to fight what was believed to be a scouting group of a goblin tribe. when he got there his battalion won the battle rather quickly, he took off his helmet and threw it on the ground screaming insults to goblins as a race, that's when the arrow took out his left eye. his battalion was ambushed by a much larger goblin army. he fell after he was initially hit and was assumed dead by the goblin army, after the battle was over the army moved on, however he was too scared to move. eventually he was found by a hunter for a small nomadic tribe. the hunter took him back and the tribe's healers healed him. then over five years he earned the trust of the tribe around him and was trained in how to use incarnum by the tribe's totemist. eventually however the tribe was ambushed by the goblin's that were laying waste to the towns in the area for years. instead of fighting he ran. he ran until he found college for adventurers, it was there he learned how to be a factotum.

Sounds like he has some bravery issues in addition to his missing eye. But he is also supposed to be a cunning and convincing diplomat...

How about calling him "Baltar?";)

Here's something I think would at least make him stand out visually and make him memorable: he wears an optical quartz* crystal carved into the shape of an eye as his artificial eye, hidden under an eyepatch. When he wants to intimidate someone or maybe even run negotiations, he uncovers the quartz eye. (And perhaps, over time, it becomes magical.)

He might then earn a name like "Godseye" or "Ghost Eye" in addition to whatever his given name is, especially if he actually proves to be an insightful diplomat.

*Optical quartz is perfectly clear quartz, and was one of the stones used to make lenses before man mastered glasswork. The eye would be perfectly clear, with the details of the iris and pupil carved into its surface, looking like an eye that isn't quite there...

First off he doesn't have bravery issues, he just has a hard time handling violence. But that is common for people who focus more on social things than violence.

Second, the godseye thing sounds cool but that's just not him.

and Baltar sounds foxy, i'll use it

Oh good- I liked it so much I wanted to yank it for a PC concept myself! ;)

I offered that up sort of in jest.

In case you didn't know, Count Baltar/Gaius Baltar is the name of the human who betrayed humanity to the Cylons in the 2 Battlestar Galactica series.

Why?

1) Both portrayals involved him being very charismatic, charming and a convincing liar.

2) Both portrayals involved him being "shy" in a standup fight...although in the second series, he took a hellacious beating.

3) Old style Cylons- which also show up in the second series, only have one eye.

I still think its a good name, but I wanted to make sure you knew who I was talking about so you didn't sit down at the table with that name, while your fellow players eyed you and your PC suspiciously.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

That would have been awesome, and no one would bring it up till half way through the campaign and then it would have been too late to fix.

btw just finished his gear and his ac is 22, 24 against evil stuff

Sometimes, if I find a name I like, but I don't want to let people know where I got it from, I use it backwards.

Unfortunately, "Baltar" backwards is "Ratlab." No improvement.

Scrambling the letters some more...

Artbal
Balart
Talbar
Braalt
etc...

OTOH, if you kept the name as is without letting anyone know you know its origins, and just left them guessing...you COULD set your PC to do the exact same thing as Baltar in the series.

If playing evil PCs is something you'd do, that is.
