NEW - Clarifications about Fuel Efficiency for Multiple Engines and Size

I'm going a little nuts lately going deep into W.O.I.N. and Starship Creation. I've started working on designs of multiple engine ships in order to increase FTL and SPEED (and to more align with the actual ship designs I've come up with), but I'm not quite sure how Fuel Efficiency works for multiple engines.

My ship is a Class IV Frigate ship and want to give it 2 DeltaLight LI-1 Sub-Luminal ion engines. Here's what I've worked out for the Sub-Luminal engines:

2 DeltaLight LI-1 Sub-Luminal ion engines
- Cost: 44 (22 x2 engines)
- Size: L
- CPU: 5.2 (2.6 x2 engines)
- Space: 66 (33 x2 engines)
- Power: 52 (26 x2 engines)
- SPEED: 13 (52 Power / Class IV)

Now for Fuel Efficiency, I feel it could be either 1.4 (the Fuel Efficiency of the Engines) or 0.7 (Efficiency divided by 2 engines because they use 2x the Fuel). The latter makes the most sense to me, but I'm not sure if that was the intent when stacking engines of the same type.

Also, as an aside, what is the use of Size for engines (and I guess anything else that has it)? I assume the values are Small, Medium, Large, Enormous, and Gargantuan/Gigantic. Is a Class IV ship a Large vessel (Large = -1d6 Initiative) and hence can only use Large and smaller parts?

Again, I'm just searching for the intent behind the usage. In the end I could just do what I want to do, but these things don't appear to be clear in the Starship Construction Manual, so I figured I might not be the only one confused.

It's the former. FE is a fractional multiplier; you use it once.

The size categories are just a guideline to help quickly locate appropriate components. It has no mechanic effect. Think of it as fluff text. It's just how you might describe an engine ("the LE-2 is a small antimatter engine").
