New D&D Miniatures Set - Hmm...

First Post
After looking at the gallery, I think this may be the first set of D&D miniatures released where I don't purchase a single booster. IMHO, it has no standouts, lots of repeats and to top it off it actually includes minis of a mushroom and a set of trap jaws. Uggh...

They are also the last set of DDM. The mushrooms and such were things to throw in traps for RPG use, but whatever reason, they could easily be monsters like mimics, shriekers...

Sadly the first new set worked on by Peter Lee was axe so no Feywild until it makes it into the new semi-random minis line next year.

I think the web golem is the silliest looking thing, along with the top half of the girallion.

Wow, those sculpts are pretty awful. I think my favorite is the friggin' mushroom. At least those would be somewhat useful for Shriekers.

Oh? I hadn't heard that the DDM line was being discontinued. I thought it was a big moneymaker for WoTC.

The DDM Skirmish game is being discontinued, but the minis will still be made with a more RPG-centric focus (less randomization, broken into PC-mini and Monster-mini packs) ... Anyone have a link to the sculpts you guys are looking at?

You may not like the mushroom, but the biggest online seller of singles ran out of them on the 2nd day of pre-orders. It is one of the hottest selling singles ever for the line. The trap mini is pretty well done, for any DM that wants to use that kind of thing in their game (which I do, but not all do).

Web golem looks pretty good in hand, but I can see where it wouldn't be for everyone. The tiniest amount of wash/color makes it much better in person. Most of the minis were a step up in quality over the last two sets, but that's not saying much.

The skirmish game is cancelled, the minis line is being re-packaged.

I've seen most in person, having been to the pre-release in MN (and won it, so I have 5 boosters worth of product so far), so if you want comments on specific minis, I might be able to provide them (remembering that I pretty much like the line, but am brutally harsh on bad minis).
