New D&D movie in the works?

BLAST!

Did you give me a good reason to own this film?

Rent it first.

Basically, the director's commentary is mostly Courtney Solomon and Justin Whalin totally geeking out over how cool everything is. However, every so often, Dave Arneson pops in to explain what the D&D game is and how certain mechanics work. It's sufficiently a non-sequitur to the rest of the movie that it's a little strange to experience, but yeah, it is indeed his voice.

Hellz yeah, great minds think alike. I, also, have yearned for the very same thing. Great taglines, too, bro.

Thanks!

Now in my dream world, a Tomb of Horrors movie would be directed by Del Toro, Jackson, or Clive Barker. Another total fantasy with no chance of happening is Terry Gilliam directs it, and the whole thing is played as a black comedy. The movie would probably wind up with an R rating to do the horror justice, although perhaps a PG-13 could be twisted out of it.

Unlike, say, a proper Vault of the Drow adaptation. That would definitely be an NC-17 movie!

Has anyone found any other information? I thought one of the guys that made the Matrix owned the rights. You think that WOTC or Sci Fi channel would say something about a new movie.

I own a lot of Slayers and Lodoss...they do a decent job of storytelling in the comedic and serious styles of D&D campaigns.

Yeah, I just watched the Record of Lodoss War OVA from beginning to end a few days ago and, up until Episode 8 it's quintessential D&D (after that it seems to drift).

The first RoLW episode (the one that fits between later episodes and served as a "preview" of the series) is the best D&D translation I've seen. Dungeoncrawling, gargoyles, a dragon (which Woodchuck hits in the eye with his knife)... all good! :win:
