Hey gang!

First of all, let me say I hope no one minds me posting this. I don't want to be seen as "trolling" - I just thought it would be cool to give you an update on the new D&D Player's Guide for the Kingdoms of Kalamar campaign setting. (I've posted this over in the d20 publisher's forum as well.) Can't you tell I'm excited? :D

The book will be 272 pages, hardcover, and packed full of new D&D info (chock full of those "crunchy bits" everyone likes)!

I've pulled out just a few things to tell you about:

* six new variant classes
* eleven new prestige classes
* sixteen subraces (not including the six human races or new hobgoblins)
* almost a hundred new feats
* new weapons
* new armors
* new equipment
* new combat options
* new skills and new uses for existing skills
* new clerical domains
* a very cool Kalamar player character record sheet
* dozens of new spells
* a new class of spells: scalable spells
* new magic items
* channeling positive and negative energy
* information on traveling the roads and catching diseases
* learn how to advance through ten temple ranks
* multiple spell planners for spellcasters
* place of origin tables
* variant language skill system (optional)
* fighting schools and career paths
* over forty religious canons (with special bonuses)

Whew.... Now my typing fingers are tired and I haven't even finished. Oh well, guess I should save something for the book, huh? :) And by the way, the price is only $29.99! And I know a lot of you have seen how much info we can pack in a book! :)

I never, ever buy anything after the core books, and yet this actually intrigues me! It would be for adaptation to home-brew, of course, but if you guys have done this much work for that price...

Hey Mark,

I'm a recent Kingdoms of Kalamar convert. I absolutely love this setting, as you have all done an excellent job with it. I'm currently running the first installment of the coin trilogy, and plan on getting even more modules.

I have been eagerly waiting for this book, since it will allow my player's characters to really "get into" the setting since I've stipulated that I will reserve the right to change the rules once the new book is out, and they can adapt their characters to them.

So, my question is..... when's it coming out? Still a month or more away?!!!

I've posted some more info re: using this book with other D&D and homebrew settings in the d20 publishers folder.

The release date is still set for April. Since it's a HC it'll take a few weeks to get back from the printer and 1-4 weeks (depending on your store's ordering habits) to get into stores. So I'd say late April is a good bet for the shelves.

All that being said, we believe the demand outstrips the preorders (and anticipate this book to outsell the core Kalamar sourcebook due to its usefulness as a PHB supplement and letters/emails/posts to that effect). Soooo, if you really want one, you should reserve one NOW with your local retailer as there will be another 4-6 week delay after the first batch sells through.

Looking forward to this book. I loved KoK, great book! I'm sending a new group through the Coin of Power trilogy starting the weekend, should be fun!

Hmmm

I am looking forward to that book since months.

But I still wonder a little bit ... It's official. No d20 product. That means core rules for me.

Cute. (kick the PrClasses!)

DWARF: Welcome to Kalamar.

I can't get why anyone would think this is an advantage.

It means one thing to me: NO OGC.

Y'know, that never hit me before: No Open Game Content.

Doen't matter for a home campaign, but it does mean all other publishers are locked out of any mechanics from this book.

Fascinating. Henry raises one eyebrow.
