New d20 Only To Buy List

Joshua had a to buy list, http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=120149 , but had a lot of stuff non-d20 related.

Now in another post, someone was mentioning that they don't feel the same spark for new purchases and I was thinking that really, WoTC is one of the few companies making a lot of new product that I'm interested in.

Advanced Dungeon Master's Guide/Helper from Green Ronin
Talislanda d20 by Morrigan Press
Iron Kingdoms World Guide by Privateer Press
Wurst of Grimtooth's Traps by Necromancer Games
Wilderlands Boxed Set by Necromancer Games

There are probably a few others, but off the top of my head, that's all. Now I'm looking forward to Arcana Evolved, but it's far from being a 'new' product and I like adventuers and other bits, but most of the d20 stuff I'm looking forward to is from WoTC unlike a few years ago.

What's everyone else looking for in the d20 market that isn't out yet and is coming down the pipeline?

Side from the core books and one or two other books, pretty much no WOTC product has been intriguing to me. They tend to focus on the D&Disms that I don't really care for. I have always been a love child of the D20/OGL 3rd party publishers. Their products compose 99.9% of my current collection. For me (YMMV) they have always been doing the real cutting edge stuff.

For me:

Blue Rose products (just bought the PDF - it rocks)
All Mythic Vista products (Green Ronin)
Any M&M products (Green Ronin)
All B5 products (Mongoose)
Legends of the Bushido (RPG Objects)
Some of the Conan books (Mongoose)
Rocketship Empires (Storyart)
Fvlminata (Adamant)
Talislanta D20 (Morrigan)
Oathbound products (Bastion)

I will be checking out Arcana Evolved. I didn't get AU, but this merits a looksie.

My list has shrunk significantly as compared to the past. But some of my favorite companies have stopped making product or are making significantly less.

Pretty much the same as before:

Pretty short:

Print:
Thieve's World (Green Ronin) (definite)
Castle and Crusade Society core books (definite)
Dungeon Crawl Classics from Goodman (definite) (might switch to PDF though)
Support products for Conan d20 (probable, Scrolls of Skelos most likely)
Support products for C&C and TW

PDF:
CSIO (Necromancer) (definite) EDIT: Scratch this, just bought it...
Tome of Horros 3.5 Update (very probable)

Others:
I'll look at the counters Klaus is doing for The New Argonauts, probably buy them.
I'll also look at any products FDP does in a similar vein to the battlebox

Well with Advanced Bestiary coming shortly, it comes down to:

M and M Noir

If when they come out:
Gimmicks Guides to Gadgets
Heroes of High Favor Gnomes
Anything Lone Wolf

Ah, but see, many products here are failing the d20 test.

OGL products like Castles & Crusades, Blue Rose, Conan, and Mutants & Masterminds aren't really d20 products. Heck, I'll go one further and say B5 and other d20 variants that aren't compatible with D&D, aren't really d20 products.

Taking those out and say even leaving Arcana Evolved because it's just an 'alternative' Player's Handbook, doesn't leave a lot in those lists.

Mythic Vistas are usually good, but I'm not a historical RPG type of guy so while I may use them, there's not a lot there I'm looking forward to. Thieves World though... yeah, that's another one I forgot about.

My list is quite similar to the one I posted on the other thread, with the exception that one or two items have been purchased in the interim.

  • Advanced Bestiary
  • Mongoose's Drow War Book I
  • Monster Geographica (Marsh&Aquatic)
  • Maelstrom

These are some I'll definitely buy, but I'm fickle when it comes to my purchases so I might pick up something else from WotC which tickles my fickle fancies. :)

Pinotage

Template troves II the ooze one.

Maybe the Grim tales CR calculator.

Maybe the badaxe half orc book.

Tome of Horrors revised for 3.5 when it comes out.

The bastion press high level drow adventure.

Possibly a bunch of new watermark pdfs depending on price.

Possibly advanced bestiary.

Ah, but see Voadam, almost all those things are already out or are reworking of format to PDF or revisions (Tome of Horrors), as opposed to brand new things.

Warcraft OGL does look interesting and should be out soon too but it's OGL so fails my own test. although I've heard it's supposed to be fairly d20 compatible.

The only d20 things I'm waiting for are:

Wurst of Grimtooth's Traps by Necromancer Games - two years and counting (three years if you count all the teasing NG did on their boards back in 2002 ;) ).

Heroes of High Favor: Gnomes - almost two years and counting. Darn 3.5 conversion!

And I am leaning heavily toward the Judge's Guild stuff which meshes with their "City State of the Invincible Overlord" (Wilderlands boxed set, etc.).

Other than that, everything is just "I'll take a look, read some reviews, and then decide" kind of item.
