Sorry, but what does noncontiguous mean?
I think: "noncontiguous" = "nichtzusammenhängend", i.e. not being contiguous. It makes sense, if you're ignoring that English usually doesn't do compounds that way.

Cheers, LT.

Man I am getting doubled-up name fatigue MAJOR style. It has been going on for a while now, with 4E it seems to be getting worse. Can't they use a little imagination rather than a doubled-up word generator!
Some are worse than others, I'm looking at you Gloomdeep, GLOOOOOM DEEEEEEEP to be said in a deep ghostly voice :\
Thankfully it is fluff (bye bye) because the article is a really neat short encounter background. Definitely worth either a go or, at least, some plagarism!

woooo bewaaare of theee gloooom blades in the glooooom deeeeep......

What would you call them?

I find Wizards' names unimpressive. But I find the alternatives people suggest even worse.

Unconnected. (though one wonders what's supposed to be doing the connecting)

Going out on a limb I'd say that you can move 5 squares (or what have you) that you could normally walk through.
Presumably it means you can't jump through walls because the squares on either side of the wall aren't connected to each other.

I assume you can still "jump" pits or chasms, but we'll probably have to wait for the book before we see exactly how they define noncontiguous.

Names are a b*tch. I hates making them up.

Gloomdeep could be called, say Thi'adum'dae. Or Vorzinknoble. Mantilfeceleety. Düstertief. Zurknestebkol. Xirxaxux. Ekel'erregend'Dunkel.

To each his own. I don't mind stuff like Gloomdeep and Underdark, while I am seriously tired of names that I have to have 3 lit. degrees to pronounce. WoTC's naming convention works much better, especially if I want my players to remember these places.

Cheers

Or maybe not! ;)

Well, I liked Gloomdeep better than my suggestions, too. ;)
My 4E playtest had the players explore the "Koboldhöhlen" (Kobold Caverns?). I think that's a name someone might come up with if there are caverns with kobolds in them... ;)
Off course, a common alternative is also "Your finger, you idiot!". ;)
