New Feat: Duct Tape Mastery

NEW FEAT:

Duct Tape Mastery
Benefit: The character gains a +2 bonus to any skill check in which the character has duct tape available, and it can conceivably be used. The character could use it to assist in a skill check to bind someone to a chair one moment, and use it to boost his repair check on a computer on the next. It would probably not be feasible to use this feat to enhance a knowledge skill check, but it could very easily be used for intimidation (consider bikini wax as torture).
Normal: That character can use duct tape for these purposes, but gains no special bonus to the skill check roll.

Heh... One of my players requested it.

[Chuckle.] I like it - though, assuming they've got a handy supply of duct tape (and I believe that's fairly easy, given Modern's wealth system,) it's also very powerful. Why spend a feat for +3 to a skill when you can have one that gives +2 to lots and lots as long as you're creative? Note - that's not a terrible thing, though. I think the creative uses of this far outweigh the "overpowered" bit. :)

I'm with Terraism. It requires a bit more adjudication from the DM than other feats, but if you're willing to keep a tight leash on it, it could be a very fun feat.

I'd rule that Duct Tape adds a +1 Circumstance bonus to nearly anything (without the Feat, but with a creative description of the use), and the Feat allows an additional +1.

This will encourage other PCs to use up this guy's tape. :)

'Tight leash' my foot. You must know what can be done with duct tape! Stuff is the holy grail of repairmen everywhere!

The real duct tape is unbalanced if you ask me. :D

Naw: Without feat it should allow repairs and craft feats without all the proper tools. That's just the nature of duct tape.

Yeah, but what is the hardness/hps/DR.... I have seen people make armour out of this stuff...

.
Actually, at an Future Problem Solving competition, my friends and I had a lot of down time so we eventually just made lots of weapons and shields out of duct tape, tin foil, and paper towels, it's great fun. :D
