Mage Tactician (General)
You can use magic whenever you see the opportunity.

Prerequisites: Dex 13+, Int 13+, base attack bonus +2, Combat Reflexes, Expert Tactician.

Benefit:When ever you are granted an extra attack through expert tactician, you may instead cast a spell in lieu of the extra attack gained. You must still meet all the requirements to cast the spell, and it must have a 1 action casting time.

Um, shouldn't this have expert tactician as a prereq?

I'd make it a little harder to get- maybe require a base attack of +4 and 8 ranks of concentration or something.

Also, aren't you supposed to be red? :D :D :D

I'd leave the prereqs as they are, for a mage to close in close enough to use expert tactician is either a stupid or Westenbergarian manuever.

I quit the red, too many folk complained about it.

Must have a 1-action casting time? No free-action spells (such as feather fall)? What about spell like abilities for monsters or prestige-class oriented PCs? And don't Blink Dogs have the ability to use Dimension Door as a move action once per round? Could they use that instead? Wow, all the irrelevant, annoying questions that will probably never arise when actually playing DnD...:(

I don't know the Expert Tactician feat. Perhaps it keeps care of this issue:
Casting a spell provokes an AoO itself. Normally one should not be able to perform an AoO-provoking action as an AoO.

AoO from an AoO

Not quite. You can take any sort of attack option as an AoO, including a nice cross-section of things that provoke AoOs (trips, unarmed strikes, grapples, sunders et cetera). . . in which case the person subject to the original AoO can make an AoO. Without combat reflexes this is where the sillyness ends...

This is way to powerful. It's too easy for a spellcaster to get rid of someone's dex bonus with spells. A successful hold person gets you an additional spell.

Well, Crothian, Haste nabs you an extra spell, and the hold person trick can be done at a range. You have to be within 5' to gain the extra attack from ET, I do believe.

Haste is a spell, not a feat. Apples and Oranges. There are many spells that would be "broken" if they were feats.

Combine this feat with improved invisibility or blink and all you need to do is be near a target and you get an extra spell against them. There are many ways to really take advantage of this feat. At the very least I urge you to place on more prequites like combat casting since they have to be close to a target to do this.

I vote for death threats.

Expert Tactician was errata'd from partial action to melee attack because it was far, far, far, far too cheaty otherwise.

You're basically removing the errata here. If you have this feat, any time a blind kobold walks past you while you're Improved Invis'd, you get to cast another fireball that round.

That's Whirlwind-Cleave logic, and we won't let you get away with it, young man!

Yeah, definitely death threats :D.
