New feat in the Weapon finesse chain.

Precise Strike

You are skilled at fighting against armored opponents.
Prerequisites: Weapon finesse, BAB +2 or greater.
Benefit: When fighting one-handed with a light weapon and using weapon finesse, you may forgo any strength bonus to damage and instead ignore half of an opponent’s DR, to a maximum of 5 points of DR bypassed (if their DR is 10 or higher).

Balanced? I'm trying to make moderate-strength light-weapon fighers viable. Might be helping rogues and perhaps monks too much though....

[edit: as a note, standard armor provides 0-4 points of DR in the game world this is for, thus the "you are skilled at fighting against armored opponents" intro....]

What you may not be counting is the fact that most Weapon Finesse fighters are low-strength anyway. Therefore sacrificing the Str bonus to attack to bypass DR is not a big deal.

Second point is that the feat as written allows me to bypass the DR of anything, monster or armoured opponent alike.

However the amount of damage from most light weapons is quite low, so even if you do bypass half of a DR10 you won't be dealing much damage.

In the long run, the feat looks most beneficial against low DR opponents.

Both are part of the plan. I figure in the best case this is +5 damage (which is of course too much for a feat in general, +1 is probably the norm) but this only comes up when you are facing at least 10 points of DR you can't get past.

Yeah, and the (minor) armor restiction makes this feat close to being balanced was my feeling. And as most fighter types have at least a 12-14 STR (even rogues given 28+ point buys), so the +5 is pretty hard to imagine occuring too often. Do you think it is balanced as written? Does it need a change?

Thanks
