Here's what I plan on using

Expanded Knowledge
Prerequisite: Character Level 6th
Benefit: Choose a spellcasting class in which you have levels. You gain an additional spell known at any level you can cast from that class's spell list.

Expanded Ability
Prerequisite: Character Level 6th
Benefit: Choose a spellcasting class in which you have levels. You gain an additional spell slot at any level you can already cast.

Simple and clean. One spell, one feat. One slot, one feat. Balanced? Maybe not, but I don't foresee it being a problem. I think that these feats will allow a prospective Sorcerer to learn one new spell every session (eventually) and a Wizard to gain one more slot.

They will become top-heavy, which is sort of ugly, but the elegance of the feat makes up for it.

I think the spells known is too weak, especially compared to the slots one. What if it was 2 spells, 2 different levels.

EDIT: see next post

Actually forget that. Yours are better as they are. The spells known one isn't weak, it's just that I want there to be some incentive to learn more 1st/2nd spells as a sorcerer.

What I'd be looking for is maybe a feat that gives say, 2 lower-level spells (like a 0th and 1st for a bard, or 1st and 2nd) or 2 lower-level slots.

Spell Feat
You learn new spell(s) whose level equals half your caster level. Thus, a sixth level Sorcerer could learn one 3rd level spell, one 1st and one 2nd level spells, three 1st level spells, or an infinite number of cantrips.

Cheers, -- N

Is it a problem for Bards to get 2 and 1? I don't think it would be a problem...

if it's not a problem, Nifft's version is solid.

Shouldn't you treat 0-level spells as 1/2 level? Then it's 6 0-level spells, which is almost infinite...

PS

Okay, here's a tough one: Has anyone got an idea on how you could reduce dominate to such a level that it is applicable in E6?

Edit: Oops :heh: maybe this is the wrong thread?

Dominate is a tough one. Personally, I think the combination of Suggestion and Charm Person is solid enough to cover the iconic mind-control abilities of spellcasters.

However, if you absolutely must, I would lower the duration to 1 round/level or even just 1 round. An EXP component (EDIT: 100-200 per hit die of creature effected is a good start) or expensive material component might also help.

EDIT: Oh, and rycanada:
That's a good point, but I think that there will come a time where a Sorcerer will choose Invisibility over a third level spell. I grant that it will come only after picking Fly, Fireball, Dispel Magic, Haste, etc, but it will come. In the mean time there's always scrolls, wands, and runestaves.

The problem is that there is a psionic version which is of 4th level, where the duration is already lowered to "concentration"... So I couldn't think of anything good to do with it... However, I solved it by giving mister big bad evil dude an artefact with the dominate power...

Or... make it an one-shot feat:

Mental Domination
You're able to subjugate certain people's mind.
Prerequisite: Having charmed humanoid with HD equal or less than your caster level.
Benefit: Choose a humanoid with HD equal your caster level or less, you have currently charmed. Treat charm person as dominate person against this person.
Special: This feat can be taken several times. It applies to a different humanoid each time.
