"Offends" would be very wrong to describe the lack of an illusionist option here.

Could you explain why one class variant is excluded while every minor variation from UA is mentioned? I mean, I can understand if it just slipped your mind and you didn't feel like reworking the poll, but to put the alternate paladins in and try to justify that they're seperate and distinct from a paladin, while Illusionist is not a class, that's the main sticking point for me (and probably others).

Have I already subtly hinted at how strongly I hate the "artificer" choice? It reeks of Dragonlance, and Dragonlance is a setting in which everyone under 6-foot-tall is stupid comic relief on the level of Jar-Jar Binks.

I hate Dragonlance for that, and I hate tinker gnomes and gnome tinkers.
Artificers have nothing to do with tinker gnomes or technology at all. They create magic items like wands.

Someone in the halfling thread mentioned the idea of a 20 level paragon class, rather than shoehorning the races' identities into the standard classes, I think thats a neat idea. For Gnomes I'd start with the Archivist class, but instead of access to any divine spell they would have access to the Druid and Beguiler lists, and trade the good Fortitude save for a Craft Reserve. :)

I consider the 3.5 Bard choice as favored class as horrendously awful. The Bard is a virtual multi-class as is. Why diffuse your abilities even more?

I picked Sorceror as a Cha focused arcane class is a natural fit given their special racial abilities.

In the context of 3.5, I would give them Spell Focus: Illusions as a racial feat.

Done!

Add +1 to the Difficulty Class for all saving throws against illusion spells cast by gnomes. This adjustment stacks with those from similar effects.

Spell Focus [General]

Add +1 to the Difficulty Class for all saving throws against spells from the school of magic you select.

Dustyboots beat me to it; they already get a +1 to Illusions. Or would you rather that they not also be able to get Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus to stack with the racial benefit?

Wizard (Illusionist) for my liking, with Beguiler as second choice. Artificer feels too Tinker Gnome for generic Gnome favored class to me.

Look, if Wizards ain't listing it on ther own site, then perhaps they are implying something?

See here for more details.

I saw an entry for Gnome Illusionist, and it was tied to racial substitution levels. Something having to do with the race of gnomes being good at illusions or something, apparently.
