New In Character idea

A while back I had been emailed by someone wanting to do some more stuff in character to help others get involved and try to keep the enjoyment happening. After discussing things with the powers that be, I was granted permission to head this project.

What that project is is an in character newspaper. If you remember back to the storyline run by Khelos with the disappearing Elves, he had posted a newspaper "the Juxta Herald" to post things happening around Juxta.

What I want to know is, how many of you are interested in getting involved in an in character newspaper, for both Juxta and Greyhawk? This is a project that will be mainly run by you guys, which will very possibly be placed on a web page at a later date.

How would you like to go about doing this? Any one have any comments, thoughts, or suggestions?

I think these message boards would probably be the best place to post the newspaper itself, since its a bit more regularly checked and accesable then the ISRP info pages.

Wow! That would be incredibly useful in keeping up with current events! Good Idea!

I am all for making it so everyone can know what is going on...not to mention creating a great forum for starting plots in an IC fashion. Count me in!

I will help out all I can maybe have a newspaper administrator who everbody e-mails new updates and deaths and stuff and also everyone should encourage everyone on help this out because it seems like a good idea make it a trans-plane paper for both updates in Juxta and Oerth I think this could be something really fun especially for people who get hired to gather info it should be just like a real newspaper even little cartoons!!!! this is so totally awesome!!!

I'm not so sure that bit is a good idea, Arken. OOC it makes sense but IC it wouldn't. Oerth is just one of the many hundreds if not thousands of planes reachable from Juxta, it just happens to be the only one that's one of our settings. Plus I worry that it will help blur the line of world separation by linking them although players and characters should both know that the lands are completely separate, in structure, functions, lawkeeping etc.

Perhaps someone would like to look into writing a newspaper that may come down from Greyhawk to Ford Keep, where the CRT is, or a smaller newsletter for Ford Keep itself which isn't really a very big place. Many small-town newspapers are notorious for publishing not only big events but also bits of gossip and odd events, both uplifting and embarrasing... anything they can get in ink!

That was my plan Pounamu. I would like to have 1 paper for Greyhawk and 1 paper for Juxta. Something to keep the two planes seperate, since it seems to be a big problem with people keeping the two places seperate.

Here's an idea.... Whoever is interested in participating in this IC Paper, drop me a note (reesa@wizardsmoderator.com) and then I can assemble the emails and send out group emails.

Let me know in the email if you're interested in working Greyhawk or Juxta. Please choose one or the other, so we have people working on individual planes. If you have no preference, let me know that as well, but list which of the two planes are a bit higher on your list. (Example: You spend most of your time in the CRT, so Greyhawk would be your choice, but you're also in the Emporium, so you really could do both. You would send a note saying you are available for both planes, but spend most time in Greyhawk.)

Once we get a list of people wanting to work on the papers for Juxta and Greyhawk, we can work on names for the papers, and so forth.

Nugan> I agree with your comments about the message boards being more viewable currently. This is where we'll start with In Character papers and start posting them on boards. In time though, they will make their way to a web page. My belief is that it will be a web site for patrons to check things out, a fun place, that's far more developed than the current ISRP Pages. Once the web site is available, I'm sure we'll be able to generate interest over there. We'll have to see how things go.

a. Could anyone be a writer, i.e. would An Adept be able to write, or perhaps a Guardian on staff..

b. What events and information would be covered? Is this like a regular paper, where you can find anything to wedding announcements, to job listings, to major events.. ?

~ Yes, anyone could write on the paper, Adept/Guardian/Apathy.. anyone.. Whatever character is interested in taking part in this. I would think someone who keeps to themselves are aren't very social would not want to work on this (Talking character, not player) but then maybe they're the silent observers..

~ As to what exact events are to be covered, I would think that would be up to the people actually doing the work but I imagine one like a real paper would be a good idea. Stuff like daily news, "sports" (Bhryn dunking, Nevine Iritating?), things happening about "Town", want ads, weddings, parties, etc.

We could start small and work up, or make up a big plan and just find people to fill in the spots.

Right now, I'm gathing the emails of those wanting to participate and then I'll send out a mass email to those people per setting (Greyhawk or Juxta) and we'll go from there.
