New Issue of Dragon

Firstly, to whoever said they were paying less than £5 for it in the UK, I paid £3.50 for mine...

Now, on to the main topic.

Having just bought the new issue, I had to make some comment about the swashbucklers article. Wow. Talk about a wealth of ideas in one go! It covers everything you could want in the space, including my favourite section - parrying feats!

Sometimes issues just make fireworks go off in your brain with excitement, and this was one such issue. Well done!

Only thing was, Phil and Dixie got shifted from their customary position to be replaced by the worst character sheet I have ever seen. Oof. Honestly, there is almost no room for information, just a huge portrait of some woman. Put Phil and Dixie back on the back page, I say!

Well, I agree about the swashbuckler "Campaign Components" section. The entire CC concept, beginning with knights a couple issues back, is phenomenal. This particular subject really does add a new level of excitement to the game, especially for fans of the swashbuckler genre. But much of the material can be used in other types of campaigns, with a little thought.

Out of interest, where are you buying Dragon from?

Absolutely loved the CC article :) Just what I wanted, as I'm going to be starting a swashbuckling game sometime soon. And the parrying feat is going into all my games.

I thought the masterwork performances were a nice idea, although some of them seemed a little to expensive in terms of Perform slots.

I really, really liked the character sheet. It's very different from the standard, and the illustration is beautiful. I'm thinking of using that as the portrait for my next character. I look forwards to next issues sheet.

As for Phil and Dixie, I don't really mind where about in the mag they put it. A good comic this month IMO, as was the Nodwick.

Well let us know how it plays out in an actual game!

Sorry Tallarn, I think most of us (In the US anyway) already said most of what we had to say about that issue. :) Was a good thread on it a while ago. It is a shame it takes so long to get to some areas of the world.

I enjoyed the swashbucklers section, especially the new skill uses and the fighting techniques. Been thinking of making the latter a new list for my site. :). I really like the idea of combinations of feats and skills to create a synergy and gain a new ability.

I was disappointed in the Alchemy section. I didn't think it offered much new, and the items they made were rather mundane. I would like to see a wizard/sorcery alchemy article about attempting to create lifeforms, such as homoculi.

I found the bard article interesting, with the super operas and such. Gives a new touch to a class in major need of perks.
