New Leatherbound Monster Manuel has new stat blocks! (and other info)

So, it seems that amoung other, interesting updates, this SE Monster Manual has the new stat format, if I am reading right. Too bad it costs an arm and a leg (75 bucks in the US, 100 in Canada) - of course, with the Canadian dollar up, if almost makes this worthwhile, if one would want to go on a bit of a spree (and is Canadian, of course ).

So, what thinks EN World?

With the SRD in existence, I simply cannot justify paying for the core Monster Manual. The added information and new illustrations do sound very attractive, but for seventy-five dollars . . . no thanks.

Hopefully this is a precursor to the next printing of the regular price Monster Manual next year.

I would hazard it's a reasonable guess that in reformatting it for the Special Edition, they now don't need to pay for it again when the book gets a new printing. So, they cover the cost of the reformatting, in part, by the markup they make on the Special Edition.

Then the thing's reformatted next year. Heck, they may even sell it as "Monster Manual: v3.6."

Which would just be DAMN funny.

It doesn't revise what we have already except for including errata.
