New Multi-classing variant

If you are a DM that just assumes that all CR ratings are etched in stone, then you may have difficulty, but most DM's realize that the CR ratings are a guide, not a gospel.

Well, unless you're going to be totally arbitrary on how many xp you award for all the monsters, you have to use some kind of guide. Part of the dnd xp system relies on the idea that different characters excel at different enemies, but everyone's rewarded equally for monsters of the same CR. This system sounds like it's extremely dependent on the dm to eyeball and guesstimate and adjudicate a new xp value for each and every monster relative to each and every character.

Again, I think this system is an attempt to fix something that isn't broken, and I suspect that the bookkeeping and stuff is just going to be overwhelming. (You have to track what you rolled for hp at each level???) I just don't see the need.

But, as I said earlier, if it improves your game or makes things more fun, hey, more power to you- go for it!
