There's are discussions all over the place whether warlord (a new base class) should be renamed to something else.

Commander isn't bad, but I still prefer Captain.
Cool. Before I even read down through the posts, my thought was "Captain" too.

But I didn't want to suggest a particular military rank (Can you be a General Captain?), so I said "Warlord is fine." Commander is good too.

Part of the problem though is that we don't know all of his class abilities, so we can't really pin it down yet. Let's just hope WotC gets it right ...

Captain is more than a military rank. A captain can be anyone "who leads or supervises" according to Merriam-Webster. Etymology-wise it means head.

Of course you can be a general captain as much as you can be a general barbarian. The nice thing about captain is that you can be captain of a ship, a mercenary captain, or even a captain of industry, without actually holding a military rank at all. In our context captain of a company is fine.

I'm fine with warlord. I'm intrigued with herald.

Noble is wrong, because it implies to be well... a noble.
Cavalier is wrong, because it basically means "mounted knight".

Everything else sounds totally awful.
