New OotS is up. (#367)

Yeah, I don't see Elan acting particularly smart in this strip. He's concerned for his friends, he figured out what Nale did (which wasn't very hard), but he can't get his thoughts together enough to explain his side of the story.

For the last panel, though, I just had to go, "Awww." :)

Did anyone else get lost trying to understand Thog's "Nale nail not-nale" speech?

I had to read it twice, but that's partly because I'm at a poor resolution so I couldn't make out all of the hyphens on the first pass.

I am utterly amazed that Rich didn't mess it up (ie, it did make sense), but I'm sure it took him quite a while to work out that line in his script.

Of course, Elan's at least a 12th-level bard with at least 18 Cha. If he chose his spells correctly, he could walk out of jail any number of ways. Heck, he could just fascinate the guard and drop a suggestion to open the door.

Yeah, but when have we ever seen him use his class abilities EFFECTIVELY? He apparently sings in combat and he uses (poorly) his Inspire Competence ability for skill checks.

That's it.

To use Fascinate and Suggestion... I think that would be beyond his comprehension. :)

And I agree with whoever it was above that said he still wasn't doing a good job of acting intelligently. If he'd taken a deep breath and made his case well, rather than confusing himself, there is SOME chance the guard would have listened. Very low, but hey... bards can be rather convincing. Where's Glibness when you need it??

Knowing him, he has no ranks in Perform (Sing) or (Oratory), just (mandolin), so he probably can't use his spells, or some excuse like that. :)

Yep. And his GM probably enforces the material component rules. Still, I think Invisibility has no material or focus components. He could pull the old "Where's the prisoner" schtick.

But I think he and Thog will have to team up to escape. A regular Brain Trust. :)

It'll be easy to get Thog on board.

Just point out to him that unless they get out and help Roy there will be no more puppies...

EVER!!

or just promise to buy him a puppy.
