Pathfinder 2E New or returning players: an “on-ramp”?

I play Pathfinder at cons, as part of PFS, but wouldn’t dream of running it at a home table. While this might change that, I think I will remain far more likely to run 5e for my fantasy RPG of choice. I suspect the amount of crunch will still be far more than I want in a home game.

As just a player, I can mostly stick to the core book, rather than having to worry about juggling everything if I’m running a game. To me it seems likely that Paizo will pursue a similarly aggressive expansion as with 1e.

Not particularly no. My concern is more that, if I am unimpressed with PF2, that the PF1 books will still be in print. I don't want a WOTC-like situation where if you're a late-comer to the game and a new edition drops, you're basically boned if you don't get the new edition.
