Inspired by the War Spatula.
Not every cook is in an army, but every army needs feeding and the best armies employ the best cooks. The War Chef is the pinnacle of the soldier/cook, able to keep their troops fed and healthy and able to hold their own in combat. Many War Chefs are human, although the profession is found in greater numbers among other races. Orcish and goblin War Chefs are fairly common as the brutes love for killing keeps the supplied with fresh meat. Dwarven armies often have one or two War Chefs in the lines, generally older soldiers who have been around and can provide advice and keep the troops in good shape. Many gnomes and halflings have the culinary expertise to make excellent chefs but are not quite so inclined to the classes militant aspects. Namby-pamby elves prefer dainty portions and faint at the sight of blood, and are not very likely to become interested in the path of a War Chef. The tradition is largely unknown amongst more monstrous races with unsophisitaced cuisines.
