D&D 5E New Race Idea: Anima

gyor

Legend
As said in the title I have an idea for a new race, I call the Anima.

The Shadowfell often pulls the discards of the Material Plane into itself and its no different when it comes to psionic energy.

There are regions of the Shadowfell called Bright Shadows where discarded Psionic energy and supressed thoughts and feeling collects.

Its here in the Bright Shadows that the Anima are born and dwell.

Sometimes a cluster of Psionic energy is too passionate or vibrant to desolve into the rest of the Bright Shadow and so the Bright Shadows instinctively draw upon the shadowy material of the Shadowfell and cocoon the shard of repressed psionic energy in shadow stuff.

These cocoons draw lost souls wondering the Shadowfell to them like moths to the flame. When a soul is campatible with the Psionic Shard, the soul is sucked in screaming into the cacoon.

What emerges from that cocoon is a new life, one of the Anima, a humaniod creature with a body made of solid shadow stuff and a lost soul anchored to its body by a Psionic Shard made up of repressed desires and feelings.

Its the nature of the Shard that defines the Anima and what creates the subraces of the Anima.

Anima Traits:

Size Medium

Type: Humaniod

Speed: 30 feet

Languages: Common and 1 other language.

Darkvision: 60 feet.

Emotional Aura: Grant Disadvantage to a certain ability checks depending on subrace to all enemies with your aura. The Anima also has Telepathy with anyone in its Aura. Aura is 10 feet, grows to 30 feet at level 17.

Shadowfell Native: when outside the shadowfell the Anima can be banished to the Shadowfell and has disadvantage again Charisma saves in bright light outside of the Shadowfell.

+2 Intelligence.

Subraces:

Creeps: Creeps are made from the repressed phobias and fears of humaniods from the material plane. Creeps often have physical traits that hint at the fears that make them up, the skin of a Creep made from a fear of bugs might have a few insectile features, and create the impression that bugs are crawling hidden on ones skin and a Creep of Heights might seem tall and in her presence make even short distances seem horribly high.

Creep Traits: Creeps can cast cause fear once per short or long rest. +1 Dex. Enemies in a Creeps Aura have disadvantage on consitution ability checks.

Thugs: Surpressed rage and hate, Thugs are made from the supressed rage and hate of the powerless, and so Thugs tend to want to stick up for the little guy, unleashing thier rage on bullies. Thugs tend to be large and well muscles, with fangs, claws, and spikes. A Thugs aura awakens ones rage.

Thug Traits: Cutting Rage: A Thug gets a natural weapon that does 1D6 damage, or 1D8 if the Thugs had been critically hit in the last 10 minutes. The natural weapon deals your choice of piercing, slashing, or blugoning damage, is a finesse weapon, and can count as a weapon and an unarmed attack your choice. +1 Strength. Enemies in the Thugs Aura have disadvantage on Intelligence checks.

Dreamers: are the suppressed hopes of those who have given into despair and depression. Dreamers put the bright in the Bright Shadows. Friendlier and kinder beings can't be found in the Shadowfell and that seems wonderful, until you remember how they're made and how many fill the Bright Shadows. Dreamers tend to have lines of sparkling energy in wonderful patterns all over thier Shadow made bodies.

Dreamer Traits: Light in the Dark: A Dreamer call expose thier inner light, Dreamers can cast light at will and daylight once per long rest. +1 Wisdom. Enemies in a Dreamers Aura have disadvantage on Charisma Checks.

Depraved: The Depraved are made up of the sexual repressed desires. The Depraved are as charming as the Dreamers, but as disurbing as the Creeps. The bodies of the Depraved are gorgeous and sexually exaggarated. Thier presence causes feeling of arousal, but not of a romantic type, but rather as if one is indulging in a sexual taboo, leaving one feeling excited, but soiled somehow.

Depraved Traits: Lustful Words: the Depraved has profiency in Bluff and Persausion and advantage on those checks. Fantasy: Can cast Alter Self once per long rest. +1 Charisma. Enemies in a Depraved's Aura have disadvantage on Wisdom Checks.

Work in progress.
